Thirty five knots, on a catamaran built for ten guests and a crew of four.
Sunreef built the Ultima 77 around a new, sportier hull, tuned to cut drag and carry speed more efficiently than the standard Ultima lines before her. Twin Volvo D11 IPS950 engines come as standard, with an IPS1350 upgrade available for owners who want more in reserve. The result is a cruising speed of 29 knots and a top speed of 35, figures that put her ahead of most catamarans her size. A diesel electric hybrid option keeps the same pace available with a quieter, cleaner alternative when owners want it. With 5,000 litres of fuel on board, she covers 1,800 nautical miles at cruise, enough for a full season of island hopping without returning to the dock.
Her lines borrow more from a sports car than a sailing hull.
The Ultima 77 was shaped to reduce drag and sharpen her profile, moving away from the boxier silhouette of Sunreef’s earlier power catamarans. A 1.3 metre draught, shallow even by catamaran standards, opens up marinas and anchorages a deeper keeled yacht would have to pass by. Aft, fold out bulwark platforms widen the swim deck at anchor, and a garage built into the transom hides a jet ski beneath a sun pad that folds flat when the toy is away. Up top, the flybridge carries a jacuzzi and generous lounging space, while two sunbeds sit forward on the foredeck. Every surface is built to work twice, storage becomes seating, and the swim platform becomes a stage for life on the water.
Five cabins, ten guests, and a full beam master for owners who want the whole width of the boat to themselves.
The standard layout sleeps ten across five cabins, with an optional full beam owner’s suite that spans the entire width of the hull rather than sitting inside one side. Large windows and an open plan saloon bring in more daylight than most catamarans of this size manage, and the interior is built to be customised rather than delivered as a fixed template, a Sunreef hallmark across the Ultima range. Four crew live aboard to run the yacht, housed separately from guest quarters so service stays close at hand without being under foot. The result is a layout that reads as spacious, even generous, without the Ultima 77 ever growing much beyond 23.5 metres in length.
Over three hundred square metres of living space, spread across two hulls and three decks.
Sunreef counts more than 300 square metres of usable space aboard the Ultima 77, a figure that explains why a 23.5 metre catamaran can comfortably host twelve guests by day. The aft deck, flybridge and foredeck each serve a different rhythm of the day, breakfast and shade aft, sunbathing and a jacuzzi above, open air lounging forward. Sliding glazing keeps the saloon connected to the cockpit, so the galley, dining and seating areas all flow into one uninterrupted space rather than being split by walls and doors. It is a layout built for groups who move between sun and shade throughout the day, not one that confines guests to a single social deck.
Eighteen hundred nautical miles is a genuine cruising range, not a marketing number.
With 5,000 litres of fuel carried between her hulls, the Ultima 77 reaches 1,800 nautical miles at a 29 knot cruise, enough to cross open water between destinations rather than hopping along a coastline. Sunreef’s own naval architecture and engineering teams built her hull and systems in house, continuing the yard’s practice of keeping design and construction under one roof. The diesel electric hybrid option adds a further layer of autonomy at anchor, drawing on batteries rather than running generators through the night. For an owner planning long seasons away from a home port, that combination of range, speed and quiet standby power is the more persuasive argument than any single top speed figure.
