Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026
This policy explains how The Yacht Collection collects and uses personal data when you visit the-yacht-collection.com, make an enquiry, register for price alerts or subscribe to our newsletter. We collect only what we need to respond to you, and we do not sell your data.
- Who we are
The website the-yacht-collection.com is operated by The Yacht Collection. We are the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.
For any privacy question or request, contact us via our contact page.
- What we collect and why
Sales enquiry or contact form: we collect your first and last name, email address, phone number, your message and the page or yacht you enquired about. We use this to answer your enquiry and assist with a purchase or sale. The legal basis is the steps taken at your request before entering into a contract, and our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries.
Charter request: we collect your first and last name, email address, phone number, preferred dates, duration, number of guests, destination and your message. We use this to check availability, prepare proposals and organise a charter. The legal basis is the steps taken at your request before entering into a contract.
Market Watch price alerts: we collect your email address and the yacht you chose to follow. We use this to email you when that yacht’s asking price is reduced. The legal basis is your consent, given by ticking the box on the form.
Newsletter sign-up: we collect your email address to send you our newsletter. The legal basis is your consent.
Browsing the website: we collect your IP address, browser and device information, pages visited, approximate location and cookie identifiers. We use this to keep the site secure, protect our forms from spam and, with your consent, measure how the site is used. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in security and spam prevention, and your consent for analytics.
Please do not include sensitive information, such as health or financial account details, in your messages. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 16.
- Market Watch price alerts
When you register for a price alert, we check the yacht’s asking price once a day. If it is reduced, we send you one email with the previous and new price and a link to the listing. Every alert contains a link to stop alerts for that yacht in one click.
We use your email address only for these alerts. We do not add it to our newsletter or share it with brokers or other third parties. Your registration ends automatically when you unsubscribe or when the yacht is no longer on the market.
- Who we share your data with
We share personal data only where it is needed for the purposes above.
Brokers, central agents and yacht owners: when you enquire about a specific yacht for sale or charter, we may pass your name, contact details and request to our brokers so they can answer availability and pricing questions.
Hosting: Hostinger, which hosts the website and its database and sends our emails.
Google: Google reCAPTCHA, to protect our forms from spam, and Google Analytics, to measure site usage (only with your consent).
YATCO: yacht listings and photos are provided by YATCO. When a listing photo loads, your browser connects to YATCO’s servers, which receive your IP address.
Authorities: where we are legally required to do so.
Our service providers act on our instructions and are bound by confidentiality and data protection obligations.
- International transfers
Some providers, such as Google and YATCO, may process data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where this happens, transfers rely on an adequacy decision, such as the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, or on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses.
- How long we keep your data
Enquiries and charter requests: up to 3 years after our last contact with you, unless a purchase, sale or charter follows, in which case we keep records for as long as required by law, for example for accounting obligations.
Market Watch alerts: until you unsubscribe or the yacht leaves the market.
Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.
Analytics data: up to 14 months.
- Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies.
Essential cookies are needed for the site and its forms to work, including spam protection by Google reCAPTCHA. These do not require consent.
Analytics cookies from Google Analytics, such as _ga, help us understand how visitors use the site. They are set only if you accept them.
You can also delete or block cookies in your browser settings.
- Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the right to access your data, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to its use, and receive a copy in a portable format. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting processing already carried out.
To exercise these rights, contact us via our contact us page. We reply within one month. If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can lodge a complaint with the CNIL (www.cnil.fr) or with the data protection authority in your country.
- Security
The website uses an encrypted connection (HTTPS), access to submitted data is limited to our team, and our forms are protected against automated abuse. No system is completely secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your data.
- Changes to this policy
We may update this policy to reflect changes to our services or legal requirements. The date at the top shows when it was last revised.
