Frauscher has been building boats on Lake Traunsee since 1927, and the 797 Spectre distils that practice into 7.92 metres. The hull is unmistakably Austrian: a long, low sheer, a near-plumb bow and a stern that tapers rather than squares off. Parked among production sportsboats it looks like it was drawn by someone who cared where every line finished.
Power comes from a single MerCruiser V8. The standard 6.2-litre unit makes 350hp through a Bravo III drive; the optional 8.2-litre MAG HO lifts that to 430hp on a Bravo IIIx. Either way the boat carries 240 litres of fuel and starts from about 2,400kg dry, light enough that the larger engine turns it into a genuinely quick machine.
The cockpit is laid out for use rather than display. Front seats fold flat, side storage boxes swallow the clutter, and a 12-inch chartplotter with engine data sits behind a frameless tinted screen. Teak runs across the floor, the side decks and the bathing platform. A bow thruster is standard, which matters on a hull this narrow in a crosswind.
Under the foredeck sits a compact cabin with full upholstery and ambient lighting, enough for a night aboard or shade for children at anchor. Six people are permitted. The options list runs to a Diamond Stitch teak table, a platform shower, an electric windlass and shore power.
