RAND built the Source 23 around a simple question: how much boat fits into 23 feet without blunting the edge that makes a small hull enjoyable? The answer is a sports console day boat that carries eight, runs to 50 knots on the largest Mercury outboard, and still returns 44 kilometres of quiet cruising on the entry electric package.
The layout does the heavy lifting. Race-style pilot seats flank the console, with optional bolsters for anyone who prefers to drive standing. The pilot backrest folds forward to open a dining setting for five. Aft, the cockpit table drops to form a sun lounge, and the extended platform gives the stern genuinely usable space rather than a token step. Forward, a U-shaped sofa shares the bow with a utility deck that swallows dive gear, boards or a bicycle, reached through a walk-through exit.
Buyers choose the character. Two electric drivetrains, three Mercury outboards, a Mercruiser petrol sterndrive and a Mercury diesel all bolt to a hull RAND optimised for an efficient 28 knots. Construction uses organic and recycled materials, and the connected boating system covers remote access, GPS fencing and preset user modes.
