Italian Riviera: Portofino & the Cinque Terre Charter Itinerary

Italian Riviera: Portofino & the Cinque Terre Itinerary

Italian Riviera: Portofino & the Cinque Terre Yacht Charter
The Ligurian coast at its most enchanting, a week of pastel villages, wooded headlands and clear blue water between Genoa and the Cinque Terre. This route gathers the Riviera di Levante’s finest, legendary Portofino, the five clifftop villages and the Gulf of Poets, most of it blissfully free of crowds. Expect rainbow-coloured harbours and hidden abbeys, vineyard terraces above the sea and long swims off quiet beaches, glamour and simplicity side by side.

Every route we shape is a starting point, not a fixed schedule. Stay a second day where the light is right, move with the weather, or follow a captain to a quieter cove. What follows is one considered way to read it; the rest we tailor to you.
Day 1

Genoa

Step aboard in Genoa, the proud maritime capital of Liguria, its labyrinth of palaces the largest medieval quarter in Europe. Explore the revived old port and narrow caruggi, taste the city that gave the world pesto, then settle aboard for the first night.

Day 4

The Cinque Terre

Cruise to the UNESCO-listed Cinque Terre, five villages of rainbow houses clinging to the cliffs and linked by ancient trails through the vines. Admire them from the water as few visitors do, anchor offshore, and tender in to wander a village or two.
Day 5

Portovenere

Sail to beautiful Portovenere at the mouth of the Gulf of Poets, its tall harbour houses and clifftop church long an inspiration to Byron and Shelley. Anchor off the island of Palmaria, swim in the clear water, and explore the lanes as the light softens.
Day 6

Lerici

Continue to the pretty bay of Lerici, watched over by a great medieval castle and ringed by wooded hills and quiet coves. Anchor in the sheltered water, swim from a hidden beach, and enjoy an unhurried day in the Gulf of Poets.
