Ten guests on a forty metre yacht is the most comfortable ratio in charter. The same hull that takes twelve leaves two berths empty here, which means an extra cabin turned over to luggage, a saloon that never feels full, and a crew of seven or eight looking after ten people rather than a dozen.
Almost the entire fleet at this combination runs five cabins, usually a full beam master on the main deck with two doubles and two twins below. Benetti and Feadship account for the largest share, with Sunseeker, Sanlorenzo, Ocean Alexander and Conrad filling out the rest. Roughly half carry a beach club at the stern, and a third have a cinema and a gym.
Weekly rates cluster between one hundred and six thousand and one hundred and sixty thousand euros, with the median close to one hundred and thirty six thousand. Older or traditionally built hulls charter from twenty five thousand, and the newest deliveries reach three hundred thousand. An advance provisioning allowance of around thirty percent covers fuel, food, berthing and drinks.
Ten guests and forty metres travel well together. The Riviera and the Balearics work as day hops from Antibes or Palma, the Amalfi coast and the Aeolian islands sit within a week from Naples, and the Greek islands rarely ask for more than a morning between stops.
