Sicily Charter Itinerary

Sicily Itinerary

Sicily Yacht Charter
A grand circumnavigation of Sicily, an island the size of a country and layered with the histories of everyone who ever ruled the Mediterranean. Over ten days this loop from Palermo takes in Greek temples and Norman cathedrals, baroque towns and volcanic coastlines, with quiet coves and fishing villages between the great sights. Expect markets and ruins in the morning, clear water and rustic seafood by afternoon, culture and simplicity in equal measure.

Every route we shape is a starting point, not a fixed schedule. Stay a second day where the light is right, move with the weather, or follow a captain to a quieter cove. What follows is one considered way to read it; the rest we tailor to you.
Day 1

Palermo

Begin in Palermo, Sicily’s vibrant capital, a heady mix of Arab-Norman splendour and street-market energy. See the golden mosaics of the cathedral and Monreale, lose an hour in the Ballaro market, then settle aboard for the first night in port.
Day 2

Cefalu

Sail east along the coast to Cefalu, a medieval town backed by a great rock and crowned by a UNESCO cathedral. Wander the honey-stone lanes, climb La Rocca for the view, then anchor off the long sandy beach for an afternoon swim.
Day 3

Milazzo & the Aeolian Gateway

Cruise to Milazzo, a headland town and the gateway to the Aeolian Islands. Tour the castle above the old town, then anchor in a clear cove along the cape, a relaxed day on the water before the island’s grander sights resume.
Day 4

Taormina

Sail to Giardini Naxos, the anchorage below glamorous Taormina. Climb to the Greek theatre with Etna smoking beyond it, wander the medieval streets and terraced gardens, then cool off in a cove beneath the town.
Day 5

Syracuse

Cruise south to ancient Syracuse, once a rival to Athens. Explore the island of Ortigia, its baroque piazzas, Greek temple and sea-fringed lanes, and the great archaeological park, then dine on Ortigia as the stone glows at dusk.

Marzamemi

Sail to the picturesque fishing village of Marzamemi, built around an old tuna works and a pair of stone piazzas by the sea. Browse the artisan shops, swim in the quiet bays nearby, and take a long seafood dinner at the water’s edge.

Day 8

Mazara del Vallo

Continue along the south coast to Mazara del Vallo, a town of strong Arab-Norman character and a proud fishing tradition. See the remarkable Dancing Satyr bronze, wander the Kasbah quarter, and enjoy the unhurried rhythm of the working port.
