Venice & the Northern Adriatic Charter Itinerary

Venice & the Northern Adriatic Itinerary

Venice & the Northern Adriatic Yacht Charter
A week at the head of the Adriatic, from the incomparable city of Venice along a coast of three countries to the wooded Brijuni islands. This route trades open-sea cruising for lagoons, Habsburg ports and Venetian gems few charters ever visit. Expect glass-blowing islands and rainbow harbours, grand cafe cities and marble squares, a cultural voyage through one of Europe’s richest corners.

Every route we shape is a starting point, not a fixed schedule. Stay a second day where the light is right, move with the weather, or follow a captain to a quieter cove. What follows is one considered way to read it; the rest we tailor to you.
Day 1

Venice

Step aboard in Venice, arriving by sea to the most beautiful city on earth, its palaces and domes rising from the water. Cruise the lagoon past St Mark’s, wander the canals and squares, and take in a city like no other.

Cruise the lagoon to its enchanting islands, from Murano, home of glass-blowing, to impossibly picturesque Burano with its rainbow-coloured houses. Explore the workshops and lanes, then anchor in the quiet lagoon for the evening.

Chioggia & the Southern Lagoon

Sail to Chioggia at the southern edge of the lagoon, a miniature Venice of canals and bridges but a working fishing town with a wonderful market. Explore the quays, sample the seafood, and enjoy an unhurried, authentic day.

Day 4

Trieste

Cruise east to elegant Trieste, a grand and cosmopolitan port of Habsburg palaces and literary cafes, long a crossroads of culture. Wander the vast seafront square, take coffee where Joyce once did, and settle in for the night.

Piran, Slovenia

Sail to exquisite Piran on Slovenia’s tiny coast, a perfectly preserved Venetian gem of terracotta roofs and marble squares on a slender point. Wander the lanes, swim off the point, and dine beside the harbour.

Day 6

Rovinj, Istria

Cruise across to Rovinj on the Istrian coast, perhaps the most beautiful town in Croatia, a cluster of pastel houses crowned by a Venetian bell tower. Explore the old town, then anchor in a nearby cove for a swim.

The Brijuni Islands

The voyage ends at the green Brijuni Islands off Istria, a national park of wooded islets, Roman ruins and clear water. Cycle the car-free paths, swim in a quiet bay, and close a week at the head of the Adriatic.
