About Acqua Chiara

ACQUA CHIARA means clear water, and her designer took the brief literally. Her interior is built around slabs of backlit blue agate – headboards, bulkheads, bathroom walls – lit from behind so the mineral reads like light coming up through the sea. It is the single most committed design decision on any yacht in this fleet, and it is either the reason you charter her or the reason you do not.

Columbus delivered her in 2025 as the Atlantique 47: 47 metres of steel, 499 gross tons, 3,400 nautical miles of range, cruising at 14.5 knots with a maximum of 15.5. That gap of one knot between cruise and top speed is worth noticing. Most yachts hold back a margin. She simply does not have one, because she is not built around the engines – she is built around the volume, and 14.5 knots is what that volume travels at, all day, without effort or drama.

What the displacement hull buys her is a swimming pool. Not a jacuzzi, not a plunge tub – a genuine pool set into the deck amidships, glass-sided, positioned where the yacht is widest and steadiest. Forward of it, sunpads. Aft, an open-air cinema with a screen that drops for the evening. Below, a beach club at the waterline.

The agate runs through everything. In the master it forms an entire wall behind the bed, veined blue and white, backlit at night. In the guest cabins it reappears in different cuts – some grey, some almost purple. The bathrooms are marble and mosaic, tiled floor to deckhead. Between the stone, the palette is deliberately quiet: white lacquer, pale oak, ivory upholstery, and just enough teal to link back to the water.

Five cabins sleep ten. Nine crew run her – almost one per guest.

The main deck opens completely: glass doors fold back so the salon and the aft deck become one room, dining table on the boundary, sea on three sides. A skylounge sits above. The wheelhouse is glass and black composite and looks like a piece of aviation.

Columbus sits inside the Palumbo group and builds at Ancona, and the Atlantique line is its displacement range – the deliberate counterweight to the fast Sport hulls the yard also makes. That split matters here. A yard that only built displacement would have made her worthy and slightly dull. A yard that only built planing boats could not have given her the pool. Columbus builds both, and ACQUA CHIARA reads like someone who had the choice and made it on purpose rather than by default.

The one-knot margin between cruise and maximum is the clearest evidence. It is not a limitation she is apologising for; it is the number the hull was drawn to hold. Yachts that quote a big top speed are quoting something you will use twice a season. She quotes what you actually travel at.

She works the Mediterranean from April to September at 300,000 euros. Winter is on request, which usually means she has not decided yet.

ACQUA CHIARA is a 2025 yacht that took a position. Yachts at this length are usually beige for a reason – beige is safe, and a charter yacht has to please a hundred different guests. She declines that logic entirely and bets on one idea executed completely. On the evidence, the bet was worth taking.
