Monte Carlo Yachts built the MCY 105 to win an argument about what a series-built 32-metre could be, and it worked, the model took its class at the World Superyacht Awards in 2017, the year CIELO NERO was delivered. Nuvolari Lenard drew her, and the signature is obvious the moment you come alongside: the dark glass runs almost unbroken down the hull, the superstructure is set well inboard, and the side decks are wide enough to walk without turning sideways.
She carries a 2024 refit and works the Bahamas, which suits her. Thirty-two metres, a planing GRP hull and twin MTUs give her twenty-eight knots when the weather is right and a comfortable fourteen when it is not, so the run from Nassau down through the Exumas happens inside a morning rather than a day.
The layout puts the master forward on the main deck, full beam, and it is the best room aboard by a distance. The bed floats on a suede-clad base lit from underneath; a console runs the width of a window band that starts at mattress height, so the first thing anyone sees is water. The carpet is a dusty rose, the joinery a pale grey oak, and the finish level is closer to a one-off than a series boat. Four further cabins sit below, a double with oval portholes at pillow height, a twin, and two more, sleeping ten in total.
The main deck is a single long room and reads as one. Aft, a bar with white stools faces a glass dining table set into a leather banquette; forward, the space opens into a lounge with a deep sectional and windows on both sides. Fold the aft doors back and it runs uninterrupted to the deck. There is a coffee station and a proper back-bar behind the counter, which is what separates a boat that entertains from one that merely seats people.
Outside she is genuinely well provided. The aft deck seats eight for dinner under the overhang with the sunset dead astern. The flybridge carries a second dining table under a hardtop and a lounge in acid green and charcoal. Best of all is the bow: a full-beam jacuzzi under a tensioned shade sail, with sun pads either side, rolled towels to hand and a foredeck lounge just forward of it. It is a real spa, jets, surround, the lot, not a plunge pool by another name, and it faces forward into the anchorage rather than back at the flybridge.
The toy list is built for the Bahamas specifically. A 35-foot Pursuit fishing tender with rods and lures aboard, jet skis, Seabobs, paddleboards, snorkelling gear and an inflatable floating cabana that the crew anchor off the swim platform. Six crew for ten guests.
CIELO NERO is a precise, modern, award-winning boat that has been kept properly and cruises the right water for her. If the week is Exumas-shaped, shallow anchorages, fishing, a jacuzzi at the bow and somewhere serious to eat dinner, she is very well matched to it.
