There is no side deck on the Ischia 44, and that absence is the whole point.
BB Yachts gave her a wide body cockpit with a central corridor in place of narrow walkways, trading the usual route forward for more room to sit, stretch and gather. A raised foredeck is the detail that separates her from the Panarea 44, her sister model built on the same hull. Two side lounges with mini sun pads flank the cockpit, each paired with a C shaped dinette, while a central helm keeps the driving position exactly where a 44 foot cruiser needs it. An opening windscreen to starboard leads straight through to the foredeck sunbed, so the boat reads as one continuous space rather than a series of separate rooms.
Twin Volvo Penta IPS 600 engines are the standard heartbeat of the Ischia 44.
They carry her to a cruising speed of 28 knots and a top end of 32, figures that suit a 13.4 metre hull built for day running rather than long passages. Owners who want a different feel can specify Caterpillar C8.7 or MAN V8 power instead. A 1,500 litre fuel capacity gives a range of 350 nautical miles at cruise, enough to cover a full day on the water with margin to spare. At 1.2 metres, her draught stays shallow enough to tuck into anchorages a deeper hulled 44 footer would have to pass by.
Underneath the finish, the Ischia 44 is built the hard way.
BB Yachts hand laminates the hull in vinylester resin with quadri axial fibreglass, a slower and more exacting process than standard layup, with a balsa core sandwich through the hull sides for stiffness without added weight. The upper structure moves to a PVC core sandwich with E glass, keeping weight out of the parts that matter most for stability. The yard carries the engineering in house, a decision that shows in a displacement of 15 tonnes that stays well disciplined for a boat of this size. She is certified to CE category B, built for open water rather than sheltered cruising alone.
Eight guests by day, eight overnight. The Ischia 44 does not make visitors choose.
Two cabins handle the overnight numbers, finished in house by BB Yachts with the same attention the yard gives its cockpit mouldings. A wet bar sits to port in the cockpit rather than below, which keeps the interior calmer and more private than the deck plan might suggest from outside. Access forward runs through the central corridor rather than a side deck, a layout choice that shapes how the whole boat is used rather than just how it looks underway. For a 44 foot cruiser, the Ischia asks owners to rethink what accommodation space is for.
BB Yachts arrived in 2024 with two 44 foot models, and the Ischia is the bolder of the pair.
She measures 13.4 metres in length across a 4.2 metre beam, drawing 1.2 metres, and carries two crew comfortably for an owner who prefers to run her with minimal help. A new price of 750,000 euros puts her well within reach for a first entry into performance focused day cruising. Naval architecture, exterior design and engineering all stay with BB Yachts itself, a French Italian builder still in its first years but already working to a clear idea of what a modern 44 footer should offer. For an owner drawn to the Panarea 44’s platform but wanting her own foredeck and her own character, the Ischia 44 is the answer.
