Twenty nine knots at the top end, and a hull built to make the climb there feel unhurried rather than urgent.
Twin 300 horsepower outboards, offered as standard with Suzuki or Yamaha alternatives, sit behind a resin infused glass reinforced plastic hull with an end grain balsa core, a variable deadrise running from a sharp 50 degree bow entry back to a flatter, more stable transom. Cruising speed settles at 21 knots, comfortable enough for a full day underway without pushing the engines. An 800 litre fuel capacity delivers a genuine 200 nautical mile range, and the added weight and windage of the flybridge structure are absorbed without the ride losing its composure in a chop.
A flybridge adds height, weight and windage to any hull, and the FLY’s has clearly been engineered to answer for all three.
Beneteau Powerboats handled the naval architecture and the engineering in house, carrying over the standard Antares 11’s cabin offset to port, which frees a wider starboard side deck for moving forward to the bow. A drop down platform to starboard extends the swim step for boarding or launching a tender, while side power bow thrusters and an available joystick system make close quarters manoeuvring straightforward despite the extra deck above the waterline. A diesel generator can be specified for owners who want air conditioning and full systems running at anchor rather than only underway.
The flybridge is not an afterthought bolted onto the roof. It is a genuine second living deck.
A full outside helm station sits under a bimini, with convertible seating that turns the space from a second command post into a lounge for watching the coast go by. Below, the cockpit is reached through a quad fold door that opens the saloon fully to the outside, while twin sunpads on the bow and further lounges aft and to port give guests a genuine choice of where to sit through the day. The saloon itself carries close to two metres of headroom and wraparound glazing, with a compact galley fitted with a cooktop, microwave and a 70 litre fridge for full days spent away from the marina.
Two cabins and six sleeping guests, with a master suite that would not feel out of place on a larger yacht.
The bow cabin takes an island berth finished in walnut cabinetry, lit by side windows and fitted with a roof hatch that doubles as an escape route, a detail more commonly seen on yachts a class above. A second cabin, set beneath the saloon, converts between a transverse double and an additional single berth for a third or fourth guest. An en suite head with a separate shower, moulded seating and a clear screen serves the bow cabin directly, keeping the arrangement closer to a small yacht’s layout than a day boat’s. Storage throughout is generous, with two further refrigerators built into the galley run.
A flybridge cruiser that adds genuine capability rather than simply another deck to look at.
She measures 11.1 metres on a 3.5 metre beam, drawing 0.8 metres, and displaces 7 tonnes, a modest increase over the standard Antares 11 that reflects the flybridge structure above. New pricing starts at approximately 250,000 euros, a considered step for the extra deck, the second helm and the additional headroom the flybridge brings to the cockpit below. Built and engineered entirely in house by Beneteau, she extends the Antares range’s outboard cruising philosophy to owners who want a boat that works as hard entertaining at anchor as it does covering ground at sea.
