Beneteau Antares 7 Fishing Yacht Review

A day boat that fishes hard and still tucks a bed in for the night. The Beneteau Antares 7 Fishing does not try to be everything at once, and that restraint is exactly what makes her work. At 7.5 metres she sits at the accessible end of The Yacht Collection’s range, priced from 48,000 euros new, yet she carries a genuine cabin, a proper galley and a cockpit built around anglers rather than sunbathers. Sarrazin Design drew a hull with a sharp entry and flared bow that shrugs off chop, and Suzuki’s DF150 outboard gets her to 30 knots with a cruising range of 200 nautical miles on 170 litres of fuel. She sleeps four, hosts eight for the day and asks for none of the crew or mooring commitment of a larger yacht. For a first owner, or a family wanting one boat that covers fishing, swimming and weekend nights aboard, she is a sensible and capable place to start.
Performance

Thirty knots from a single outboard, delivered without fuss.

The standard Suzuki DF150 pushes the Antares 7 Fishing to a top speed of 30 knots, settling into an easy 22 knot cruise that stretches her 170 litre fuel tank to a 200 nautical mile range. A Mercury 150 is offered as an alternative for owners with a preferred brand. Beneath the waterline, a sharp entry and flared bow work with moderate deadrise and wide reversed chines to keep her settled through chop, while convex topsides help her cut through a head sea rather than slap against it. At 1,850 kilograms she is light enough to plane early and stay efficient at cruise, exactly what a boat built for covering ground to a fishing mark needs.

Exterior Design

Sarrazin Design drew a profile that reads sporty before it reads practical.

Built in GRP with a white fibreglass superstructure, the Antares 7 Fishing keeps her lines clean and her deck free of clutter. A quick release anchor system sits forward, out of the way of the fishing cockpit, while twin swim platforms flank the outboard aft, each reached through a starboard boarding gate with a recessed ladder. Side rails wrap a sunpad for security when the boat is up on plane, and moulded storage beneath the cockpit lounges swallows rods, fenders and lines without eating into deck space. It is a hull designed to work hard and still look considered at anchor.

On Board

The cockpit is built for the catch, not the cocktail hour.

Rod holders line the gunwales and a live bait well sits within easy reach of the transom, keeping bait fresh through a full day offshore. The layout leaves enough open deck to work several rods at once, and with capacity for eight day guests there is room for a genuine fishing party without anyone standing in another’s way. Beneteau has resisted the urge to over furnish the space: nothing here competes with the job of landing a fish, and everything that does not need to be on deck has a home in the storage lockers below.

Interior & Accommodation

Below deck, a genuine cabin turns a day boat into a weekend one.

The forward cabin’s convertible saloon and compact galley bring sleeping accommodation to four, useful for an overnight passage or a night at a quiet anchorage after a day’s fishing. The galley carries enough equipment for coffee and a simple meal rather than full catering, which suits a boat built around days on the water rather than evenings at anchor. It is a sensible trade: enough comfort to stay out longer without adding the weight or cost the Antares 7 Fishing does not need.

Ownership & Specification

At 48,000 euros new, she is an entry point rather than a compromise.

Engineered in house by Beneteau Power Boats, with naval architecture handled by the same team and Sarrazin Design responsible for the exterior, the Antares 7 Fishing is a cohesive, single source build rather than an assembly of outside consultants. She carries one cabin, sleeps four and welcomes eight for the day, all on a beam of 2.5 metres and a draught of just 0.8 metres that opens up shallow anchorages larger boats cannot reach. For an owner taking their first step into boat ownership, or adding a capable tender to a larger yacht’s crew, she offers a complete package at a price that leaves room for the season’s fuel and mooring costs too.
