She wears her lineage plainly, and that is the point.
The 210 Montauk keeps the silhouette that has defined the Montauk family for decades: a flared, overhanging bow, a low working freeboard and a hull drawn for soft chine stability rather than show. Boston Whaler’s in-house design team resisted the urge to over-style her, instead sharpening the running surface for a drier ride while keeping the proportions that make a Montauk instantly recognisable on any dock. Welded stainless grab rails, outboard bow rails fitted with rod holders and a fibreglass swim platform complete a profile built for use first and admired second, though she manages both.
Forty knots from a single outboard, and she barely raises her voice getting there.
The standard 200hp Mercury V6 DTS outboard gives the 210 Montauk a 30 knot cruise and a 40 knot top speed, with 230hp and 250hp V8 options available for owners who want more in reserve. She carries 227 litres of fuel for a cruising range of around 250 nautical miles. A 16 degree transom deadrise and a sharpened running surface keep the ride composed in a chop, while hydraulic steering and electric trim tabs make her easy to place precisely at speed or at rest.
Everything here earns its place, and nothing is left to chance.
A reversible helm seat flips forward to open a casting platform, insulated bow and quarter storage keep the catch and the cooler separate, and a console hatch hides a marine head with standing headroom for the smaller crew. Rod holders run from the bow rail through to the leaning post, and an optional 30 gallon livewell keeps bait fresh through a long day. Raymarine electronics, a Fusion stereo and USB charging bring her up to date without crowding a deck that still feels open and unfussy, built for a family who want to fish in the morning and swim off the platform by noon.
Deck space on a 6.4 metre hull is always a compromise.
A wide casting deck forward, insulated fishboxes with overboard drains, and quarter seating aft give eight guests genuine room to move rather than simply sit. The bow doubles as a sun lounge, with cushions and optional backrests turning fishing space into family space in minutes. Aft, hinged nonskid casting platforms fold out on each side of the transom, and a telescoping boarding ladder tucks beneath the swim platform until it is needed. It is a layout that asks what the day requires and rearranges itself accordingly.
Two hundred and fifty nautical miles is a long way to get away in a boat this size.
A 227 litre fuel capacity sits behind a slender, seaworthy hull, giving the 210 Montauk a cruising range of around 250 nautical miles at a brisk 30 knot cruise. That is range enough for island hopping, long coastal runs or simply the peace of mind that comes from carrying fuel to spare. Her shallow 0.4 metre draught opens anchorages and flats that deeper hulled boats never reach, turning range into reach: not just how far she can go, but how much more coastline she can use once she gets there.
