The 631 Next treats weight as the enemy, not horsepower.
Her hull is laid up in carbon fibre, Kevlar and vacuum bagged e-glass, extending through a full carbon fibre hardtop and transom and into honeycomb filled bulkheads and furniture panels throughout. Canados Engineering developed the hull form itself through computational fluid dynamics, arriving at a triple stepped bottom that stays settled at speed rather than fighting the water. Twin surface drive transmissions keep the running gear largely out of the water, cutting drag, while reverse strakes along the transom add lift exactly where a planing hull needs it most. The whole approach reads less like a sportsboat and more like an engineering brief, solved.
Thirty five knots at cruise, forty at the top, carried on twin MAN V12 engines built to run that hard without complaint.
Standard power is a pair of 1,550 horsepower MAN units, with 1,800 and 2,000 horsepower alternatives for owners who want more in reserve. A 1.2 metre draught keeps her out of trouble in skinny anchorages that would ground a deeper hulled yacht of the same length, and 4,000 litres of fuel give her a genuine 350 nautical mile range at cruising speed, enough to cross open water between ports rather than hopping along the coast. At the helm, a central pod carries the instrumentation in clear sightlines, keeping the driver’s attention on the water rather than the dials.
Marco Casali’s exterior work gives the 631 Next a profile that reads fast even at anchor.
A low, taut sheer line and minimal superstructure keep her silhouette lean for 19.2 metres, while the carbon hardtop shades the helm without adding visual bulk above deck. Aft, a garage beneath the sun pad houses a tender, keeping the transom uncluttered when she is underway. The deck flows in one continuous line from bow to stern, with no awkward steps or breaks to interrupt movement around the boat, a detail that matters as much at the dock as it does crossing open water.
An island galley sits at the centre of life on board, built for real cooking rather than reheating.
Twin 130 litre fridges, an electric barbecue and an ice maker turn the aft galley into a genuine entertaining space rather than an afterthought. Below, the full beam owner’s suite occupies the calmest part of the hull amidships, with a second cabin forward for guests. The saloon itself can convert to a third berth when the occasion calls for it, giving the 631 Next more flexibility than her two dedicated cabins suggest on paper. Poltrona Frau leather dresses the seating throughout, carrying the same material language from saloon to staterooms.
The 631 Next is a yacht built by people who measured everything before they built anything.
At 19.2 metres length overall on a 5 metre beam, she carries a crew of two and sleeps four guests across her two cabins, with day capacity for eight. Canados Engineering Department oversees construction from hull form to systems, the same team responsible for the composite structure and hull analysis described above. For an owner who wants the presence of a near twenty metre yacht with the efficiency and manners more often associated with something smaller, she is a precise and specific proposition.
