Ferretti Yachts 860 Yacht Review

Some flybridge yachts treat glass as decoration. The Ferretti Yachts 860 treats it as the whole idea. Full-height picture windows run along both sides of the hull, uninterrupted from bow to stern, so the main deck reads as a single bright volume rather than a series of separate rooms. Filippo Salvetti’s exterior work and Ideaeitalia’s interior scheme are built around that light, and the numbers back up the ambition: twin MAN V12 diesels take her to a 32 knot top speed, with a cruising range of 320 nautical miles that stretches to roughly 1,000 nautical miles at a gentle 10 knots. Four en suite cabins sleep eight guests, with a full-beam owner’s stateroom set amidships where the motion is calmest. For an owner who wants genuine natural light throughout the accommodation deck, paired with real offshore range, the 860 is built around exactly that brief.
At Sea

Two engine options change the character of the same hull.

Twin MAN V12 diesels come standard, with 1,800hp and 1,900hp variants available depending on how an owner wants to use her. Cruise sits at 27 knots and top speed reaches 32 knots, with a 320 nautical mile range at cruise from a 7,400 litre tank, stretching much further again at gentler speeds. A 2 metre draught keeps shallower anchorages within reach despite her size, and gyro or fin stabilisation options are available to keep the ride settled whether at anchor or underway. She is quick when asked to be, and efficient when she is not.

Exterior Design

The glazing is the signature, and it runs the full length of her.

Full-height windows extend along both sides of the hull beneath a bright horizontal rail cap, a detail that draws a clean line the length of the yacht and floods the main deck with light. Forward, a foredeck terrace of around eleven square metres adds deep-seat armchairs and booth style seating, a genuine second living area rather than an afterthought bolted onto the bow. Filippo Salvetti’s exterior language favours long, uninterrupted surfaces over broken lines, letting the glazing do the visual work rather than competing with it.

Living Spaces

The flybridge does double duty, depending on the day.

An optional hot tub sits aft, while the forward section carries a dinette for eight, a sun pad to port and a wet bar beside a dual-seat helm to starboard, room enough to run the whole day up there if the weather allows. Below, a cockpit of around 30 square metres opens through a glass balustrade to a hydraulic swim platform at the waterline, and day capacity for up to 12 guests means the deck spaces are sized to match. Between flybridge, cockpit and foredeck terrace, there is always another spot to move to.

Interior & Accommodation

Four cabins, one full beam owner’s suite amidships, where a yacht moves least.

Ideaeitalia’s interior places the king-sized owner’s berth at the most stable point in the hull, with three further en suite cabins finished to the same standard for a total of eight guests. The main saloon runs to roughly 27 square metres, furnished with free-standing pieces rather than fixed joinery, and headroom throughout sits at a genuine two metres, rare enough at this size to be worth noting. It is a layout built for guests who want their own space, not a shared cabin arrangement.

Ownership & Specification

An evolution, not a reinvention, and that is the point.

Built by Ferretti’s own engineering department at 85 tonnes displacement, she carries three crew in two twin-bunk cabins forward, reached by their own private stairway and kept separate from the guest accommodation. She is priced from 6,500,000 Euros new, positioned between the smaller 800 and the larger 940 in Ferretti’s current flybridge range. For an owner who wants the yard’s established engineering and glazing-led design language on a slightly smaller hull, the 860 delivers the range’s core idea at a lower point of entry.
