Twenty one knots is a rare number for a yacht in the ninety foot bracket.
Twin MAN V8 diesels come as standard, with twin Caterpillar C18 units offered as an alternative for owners who want to specify their own balance of power and economy. Either way, the FD90 cruises at sixteen knots and tops out at twenty one, figures that put her ahead of most displacement hulled yachts her size. A fuel capacity of 13,170 litres gives her a range of some 1,700 nautical miles, enough for a season spent moving between anchorages rather than planning around a fuel dock. Horizon’s own engineering department has tuned the running gear to keep the ride settled at speed, a detail that matters as much in a choppy crossing as it does at anchor.
Her lines belong to Cor D. Rover, and they are unmistakable at any distance.
The forward sloping windshield is the signature move, a detail Rover has carried across Horizon’s FD range and one that quietly cuts glare and interior heat. A Hi-Lo platform folds down at the stern to extend the swim space, while WindJammer doors open the cockpit bar straight onto the water, complete with its own sink, fridge and ice maker. Up top, the sundeck reconfigures for dining or lounging beneath a bimini, with a barbecue tucked discreetly out of sight. Nothing about the exterior shouts for attention. It simply works, deck after deck, in the way a well drawn yacht should.
The galley is not hidden away. It is the room.
Horizon has stripped out the bulkhead that would normally separate galley from saloon, leaving a single open space lit by full height glass on both sides. Marble countertops and a considered run of cabinetry keep the room feeling finished rather than functional, and the helm nearby carries its own multifunction displays for an owner who likes to run the boat personally. The main deck master sits just forward of this space, with a dressing table and twin sinks in the en suite, close enough to the social heart of the yacht without sacrificing privacy. It is a layout built around how people actually spend their days on board, not how a brochure photographs.
Five cabins, ten guests, four crew. The FD90 is sized to run lean.
The main deck owner’s suite sits forward of the galley, with a dressing table and twin sinks in its en suite bathroom. Below, four further cabins are arranged for flexibility rather than uniformity: one is finished to rival the owner’s suite in quality, while another converts between a double berth and twin bunks depending on who is aboard. Crew are kept separate, in two en suite cabins with their own shower areas, keeping service discreet and the guest decks quiet. For an owner who wants the volume of a bigger yacht without the running costs that come with one, the FD90’s accommodation plan is the clearest argument in her favour.
The FD90 opens Horizon’s flagship range without asking an owner to compromise.
Built in GRP to the yard’s long standing construction standards, she measures 27.5 metres on a 7.1 metre beam, with a draught of just 1.8 metres, shallow enough to reach anchorages a deeper hulled yacht would avoid. Horizon’s in house naval architecture and engineering teams designed the platform specifically for the FD line, with Cor D. Rover responsible for the exterior styling that now defines it. Fresh water and fuel capacity are sized for genuine time away from a dock, and the specification sheet leaves little to add once an owner has chosen between the standard MAN engines and the Caterpillar alternative. For a first step into the flagship bracket, she is a complete and considered yacht.
