Fifty knots on paper, calm water underneath in practice.
Twin Mercury Verado 450R outboards come as standard, with 425 horsepower Yamaha XTO or 350 horsepower Suzuki DF350A packages offered as alternatives, each tuned for a slightly different balance of top end and running cost. Cruising speed settles at a comfortable 30 knots, with the full 50 in hand for open water. The hull beneath her, developed from the smaller GranTurismo 12.0, is vacuum infused with isophthalic vinyl ester resin, a process Lomac uses specifically to keep weight down without giving up structural stiffness, which is exactly what a boat built to run hard at 50 knots needs most.
Federico Fiorentino’s hand is visible the moment you step aboard, not just in the lines but in how the boat is laid out to use.
He is the exterior designer behind this generation of the GranTurismo range, and the 12.5 carries his work forward rather than starting again: independent pilot and copilot seats sit forward of the command area, separated for clarity at speed, while two generous glass side windows and portholes bring daylight into the cabin below rather than leaving it as a dim afterthought. The hull itself traces back to the 12.0, lengthened and refined rather than redrawn from scratch, which is why her proportions feel so settled for a boat this size.
The aft sun pad is not just somewhere to lie down. It is also a hatch.
Lift it and a hydraulic mechanism opens access to the services below, keeping the maintenance side of the boat out of sight until it is actually needed. Up top, the cockpit carries a kitchen cabinet with a hob, sink and fridge built in, enough to cover drinks and a simple lunch without retreating below. Between the sun pad, the galley cabinet and the twin sundecks fore and aft, the GranTurismo 12.5 is built for a day that moves between sun, shade and water without anyone needing to go far to find what they need.
Below deck, a U-shaped dinette does double duty as the cabin’s social heart.
Its table lowers flush to the floor when the space is needed for something other than dining, a simple mechanism that keeps two cabins feeling larger than their footprint suggests. Those two cabins sleep four guests overnight, with up to twelve welcome on deck during the day, and a crew member carried as standard to look after the boat and its guests alike. It is a cabin built for comfort over a weekend rather than a cruise, consistent with the GranTurismo philosophy, just with slightly more room to enjoy it in.
Three hundred and fifty nautical miles is a serious number for a boat this size.
An 1150 litre fuel tank, nearly half again what the smaller GranTurismo 12.0 carries, is what makes it possible, giving the 12.5 genuine range alongside her speed rather than one at the expense of the other. At a 30 knot cruise she can cover real distance between fuel stops, opening up longer coastal routes or an extended island hop that would otherwise mean planning fuel stops around the boat rather than the trip. For an owner who wants to go further as readily as faster, that number matters as much as the 50 knot top end.
