Mangusta 132E Yacht Review

At just over forty metres, most yachts settle for comfortable progress. The Mangusta 132E keeps moving at 35 knots at full throttle and 30 at cruise, numbers that belong to yachts half her size, sustained here by three waterjets rather than two. She arrived in 2024 as a considered evolution of the earlier Mangusta 132, with Overmarine’s own team widening the window line and reworking the proportions for a sharper, more contemporary read. Three MTU engines drive a trio of Kamewa waterjets, giving her the 520 nautical mile range and 1.8 metre draught that only jet propulsion can offer at this length. Inside, an interior by Alberto Mancini opens the salon straight onto the aft cockpit through a door that rotates and disappears into the wall, while five cabins sleep eleven guests and six crew keep the yacht running. At 17 million euros new, the 132E is Overmarine’s case for speed and volume in the same hull, built for an owner unwilling to choose between the two.
Performance

Three engines, three waterjets, and a forty metre yacht that cruises at 30 knots.

Triple MTU 16V 2000 M96L engines, each producing 2,600 horsepower, drive a trio of Kamewa waterjets, two paired units and a third on the centreline, rather than conventional shaft drives. The arrangement keeps her draught to just 1.8 metres and lifts her top speed to 35 knots, figures that would be notable on a yacht half her length. Cruise settles at 30 knots with a range of around 520 nautical miles from a 19,500 litre fuel tank, enough for a season of island hopping without constant refuelling stops. Two Seakeeper gyro stabilisers work underway and at anchor, keeping the ride settled at speed and the evenings calm once the engines are off.

Exterior Design

She reads as a sharper version of a yacht Overmarine already knew how to build.

The 132E evolves the proportions of the earlier Mangusta 132, with Overmarine’s own team widening the window line along the hull and main deck to bring noticeably more light into the interior. Forward, a hot tub and generous sun pads turn the bow into a destination in its own right rather than a thoroughfare. Construction pairs a single skin hull with a sandwich composite superstructure, a combination chosen to keep weight down high in the structure without giving up strength where it matters most. The result is a profile that feels current rather than simply updated, proportion rather than decoration doing most of the work.

Interior & Accommodation

The salon and the aft cockpit are, in effect, one room whenever the owner wants them to be.

A sliding door rotates on its own axis and disappears into the wall, joining the two spaces into a single run of living area that owners of this size of yacht rarely get. Alberto Mancini’s interior, developed with Overmarine’s own decor department, applies the same clarity throughout, built around two floor to ceiling glazed surfaces in the salon and a clean separation between guest and crew areas. Five cabins sleep eleven guests, while six crew work from three cabins of their own, a ratio that supports genuine service rather than a crew stretched thin across a large yacht.

Living Spaces

The sun deck is less a feature than a second yacht stacked on top of the first.

A dedicated dining area sits alongside a separate lounge for relaxation, and a second pilot station lets the captain run the yacht from up top when conditions and company call for it. Up to twenty guests can be hosted during the day across these upper spaces and the forward hot tub terrace, giving a 40 metre yacht genuinely distinct zones for lunch, for lounging and for simply being outside. It is a layout built for groups who want options through the day rather than a single social centre they circle back to.

Ownership & Specification

At 17 million euros new, the 132E asks a serious price and backs it with serious engineering.

Launched in 2024 and built to Overmarine’s own naval architecture and engineering, she measures 40.1 metres overall on a 7.8 metre beam, with a loaded displacement of around 185 tonnes and a gross tonnage of 288. That tonnage matters for an owner weighing crewing requirements and port fees as much as the headline speed figures. Few yachts at this length still offer triple waterjet propulsion with a draught this shallow, which keeps the 132E relevant to owners who want both range and access that larger, deeper draught yachts cannot match.
