Thirty eight knots at the top is not a typical figure for a yacht this size.
Twin MAN V8 engines, 1,200 horsepower apiece, give the S62 a cruising speed of 30 knots and a genuine reserve above it when conditions allow. Displacing 27.6 tonnes on a 5 metre beam, she draws a shallow 1.5 metres, respectable for a boat built to carry this much pace. Fuel capacity runs to 3,400 litres, supporting a range of around 250 nautical miles at cruise, enough for a proper day’s passage with real speed still in reserve for the return leg.
She sits lower and leaner than a conventional Princess flybridge, and it shows.
Sportsbridge styling keeps the superstructure compact, trading some of the shade and volume of a full flybridge for a sleeker profile and a lower centre of gravity that suits her pace. Large hull windows and generous saloon glazing keep the interior bright despite the reduced height above, and a sliding roof over the helm brings in additional natural light when it is open. On a 5 metre beam and 1.5 metre draught, the S62 reads as noticeably tauter than her flybridge siblings, a yacht styled around speed first and volume second.
The master cabin is the highlight, and it does not need to raise its voice to prove it.
A completely flat floor and large hull windows give the owner’s cabin a sense of space rarely found on a 19 metre hull, while the forward VIP cabin carries similarly careful woodwork and generous storage. A third cabin completes the accommodation, sleeping six across the S62’s three rooms in total. Crew are looked after separately, with a compact cabin of their own that includes a dedicated toilet compartment and its own air conditioning, keeping the working side of the boat properly apart from the guest spaces.
A galley aft layout keeps cooking close to the cockpit and the conversation.
The flybridge carries its own seating and a bar area, giving guests somewhere to gather once the anchor is down, while teak laid side decks make moving forward straightforward under way. A garage accommodates a tender, and a hi lo bathing platform doubles as a launch point for a jet ski, both stowed out of sight until they are needed. Sound deadening cladding in the engine room keeps the saloon calm even under way, a detail that matters more on a yacht built to spend real time at speed.
Built in GRP and engineered to hold her pace without excessive wear, the S62 is a considered choice for an owner who wants speed without stepping down in comfort.
Princess’s own team handles both the exterior styling and the interior throughout, and the yacht is sized to run with two crew when an owner wants full service aboard. Day capacity reaches twelve, so she works as well for an afternoon of guests as she does for six sleeping aboard overnight. For an owner who has tried a conventional flybridge and found it short on pace, the S62 offers the same underlying comfort with a genuinely different character underway.
