RAND Lagune 44 For Sale

The Lagune 44 sits between two categories on purpose. It has the open cockpit and the shallow half-metre draft of a day boat, and the accommodation, tender garage and range of something you would take away for a week.

The cockpit carries the argument. A lounge seating fourteen wraps a bar and galley beneath an XL hardtop that covers helm and seating together, with a fabric tent to close it further when the weather turns. Aft, a platform sits level with the water and opens onto a garage that swallows an inflated tender and a set of scuba gear, reached by lifting the sunbed above it.

Below, RAND has used the full 3.99-metre beam for a midship cabin with two full-size single berths, and put a convertible queen-size suite forward under a skylight. The heads is separate, with full standing height and its own shower.

Propulsion covers the whole market. Twin 300 kW E-Drive sterndrives with a 440 kWh battery cover 250 nautical miles at six knots. Petrol and diesel sterndrives from MerCruiser, Yanmar and Volvo Penta reach 44 knots, the Volvo D6-440 stretching to 1,500 miles at displacement speed, and twin Mercury V12 outboards take the top end to 50.

RAND claims the hull weighs half what its class does. Read the range table and the cabin plan together and that claim is the whole design brief.
