The Realm 45 answers a question the rest of the RAND range does not: what happens when a Danish day boat has to work in November. The answer is a convertible pilothouse. Large sliding glass doors and windows shut the helm and lounge in completely, then open out again, so one boat covers a rough crossing and a still afternoon at anchor.
It shares its beam and its half-metre draft with the Lagune 44 below it and stretches the hull to 13.80 metres. The cockpit lounge seats fourteen around a bar and galley, with the entertainment centre placed amidships where people gather anyway. Aft, a platform sits level with the water above a garage for a tender and watersports gear.
The space under the aft sunbed is the interesting decision. Buyers take either a guest cabin with natural light or a full storage compartment, a real fork between hosting and range. Forward of it sit a full-beam midship cabin with two single berths, a convertible queen-size suite under a skylight, and a separate heads with standing headroom and a shower.
Power runs from twin 300 kW electric sterndrives on a 440 kWh battery, through MerCruiser petrol and Yanmar or Volvo Penta diesel, to twin Mercury V12 outboards and 47 knots. Choose the Volvo D6-440 pair and the boat will cover 1,500 nautical miles at six knots.
