The Spirit 25 is RAND’s answer to a question most builders skip: what happens if you give a modern day boat the manners of a 1960s runabout? The hull is 7.48 metres, the windscreen wraps rather than juts, and the steering console borrows its shape from Italian sports cars of the period. Underneath, the engineering is entirely current.

Six people fit without crowding. The helm bench has an expandable backrest that swings the seating into a cafe-style arrangement in seconds, so the same space works for driving fast and for lunch at anchor. Storage runs under the seating and beneath the foredeck. A teak foredeck doubles as a sun pad. Shade comes either from a rigid T-top, which costs almost nothing in top speed, or a stowaway bimini that folds away for low bridges.

Power is a genuine choice rather than a token electric option. RAND’s own 170 kW inboard drive with a 78 kWh battery gives 28 knots and 65 kilometres at 9 knots. Buyers who want more pace take the Mercury F250 outboard or the 300 hp Mercruiser sterndrive, both good for 45 knots.

At 1,250 kilos the boat tows easily and sits well in a small berth, which matters to owners who move between a lake, a river and a coast. Prices open at 119,900 euros, and the boat is built in Copenhagen.
