From outside, nothing about her looks unbalanced.
Zuccon’s exterior design absorbs the missing port side deck into a silhouette that reads as considered rather than compromised, the hull’s volume shifted rather than simply removed. Full height glass cockpit doors and a glazed companionway enclosure keep the main deck bright and connected to the water, while the starboard walkway retains the practicality of a conventional side deck for lines and fendering. It is a difficult trick, making an asymmetric hull look inevitable rather than unusual, and the SL90 Asymmetric pulls it off convincingly enough that most guests would need to be told the layout is unconventional at all.
Twin engines, several options, and a straightforward case for each one.
The SL90 Asymmetric comes standard with twin MTU 10V2000 M96L diesels, with a MAN V12 pairing or twin Caterpillar C32 units available for owners who want to tune the balance of power and running cost differently. Across the range she cruises at 25 knots and reaches 30 at full throttle, with an 8,500 litre fuel capacity supporting a 1,200 nautical mile range, enough for a proper cruising season without constant refuelling stops. A 1.9 metre draught keeps her flexible around shallower anchorages despite her size. The engineering, like the exterior, is handled in house by Sanlorenzo, giving the yacht a coherent identity from hull to helm rather than an assembly of third party systems.
The owner’s stateroom sits on the main deck, full beam, and gives up nothing to the saloon above it.
Entered through a starboard side door, the master suite carries a bed measuring just over six and a half feet by five feet ten inches, with its own head, shower and a dressing area lit by overhead glazing. Below deck, three further en suite guest cabins complete the accommodation for eight: a VIP forward on the port side, and amidships twin doubles with berths just over six feet long and headroom of six feet six inches throughout, one of the port side cabins converting to twin berths when needed. Every cabin carries the same unhurried, generously proportioned feel as the spaces above, a direct result of the volume the asymmetric layout hands back to the interior.
The saloon is where the missing side deck pays off most visibly.
Windows run large on both sides despite the asymmetric hull, and the port side saloon extends roughly two feet further than a conventional 90 footer would allow, creating a space with headroom of six feet eight inches that feels closer to a larger yacht’s main deck than her own length would suggest. An amidships television slides away behind a full height screen when not in use, keeping the room free of it by default. The galley keeps its own side deck access for crew and provisioning, tucked beneath a wheelhouse set on a half deck above, open in feel and looking straight back down over the main deck below. A port side corridor with a stowage locker and day head keeps practical needs out of the guest spaces entirely.
She is the larger, more resolved expression of an idea Sanlorenzo has now proven twice.
The SL90 Asymmetric measures 27.6 metres in length on a 6.5 metre beam, with naval architecture and interior design by Sanlorenzo’s own team and exterior lines by Zuccon, run day to day by a crew of three. Priced from 9,000,000 euros new, she sits above the SL86 Asymmetric in the range without simply scaling up the same yacht, the extra length going toward genuine additional volume rather than a longer version of an identical layout. For an owner who wants the asymmetric concept taken as far as Sanlorenzo currently takes it, the SL90 is the fuller statement of the idea.
