Tankoa / Tankoa S501
The Tankoa S501 is a 50-metre aluminium superyacht that has established itself as one of the most compelling propositions in the sub-500 GT segment. Built at Tankoa’s facility in Genova, the S501 combines Italian design flair with the efficiency and performance advantages of full aluminium construction.
Powered by twin MTU diesel engines producing 2,000 horsepower each, the S501 reaches 18 knots and cruises at 12 knots. With a displacement of 499 GT, she sits just below the regulatory threshold, simplifying operations and crewing while delivering the space and comfort of a much larger yacht. Her range of 4,000 nautical miles provides genuine ocean-crossing capability.
Exterior design by Francesco Paszkowski creates a clean, modern profile with balanced proportions and generous outdoor areas across three decks. Five staterooms accommodate ten guests, attended by a crew of nine. The S501 has proven Tankoa’s most successful platform, with multiple hulls delivered to owners worldwide who value the combination of Italian craftsmanship, competitive pricing, and a yard that consistently delivers on time and on specification.

Twin MTU engines give the S501 an easy, efficient gait rather than a sprint.
At 2,000 horsepower each, the engines settle her into a 12 knot cruise with an 18 knot top end, numbers chosen for range and comfort rather than speed for its own sake. The payoff is a 4,000 nautical mile range from 60,000 litres of fuel, enough for a genuine transatlantic crossing without a refuelling stop. A 2.2 metre draught keeps her out of the deepest water class yachts need, opening harbours and anchorages a larger aluminium yacht would have to pass by, while her 499 gross ton displacement sits her just under the threshold that simplifies crewing and classification.
Francesco Paszkowski drew a profile with a plumb bow and clean, balanced proportions across three decks.
The look has evolved without losing its identity. For the current EVO generation, Tankoa opened up the saloon and dining area, fitted larger windows throughout and extended the flybridge, changes that add light and usable deck space without disturbing the yacht’s settled, confident lines. At 49.9 metres on a 9.4 metre beam, she carries her length with the kind of restraint that reads as deliberate rather than conservative, a silhouette built to still look right a decade from now.
Five staterooms for ten guests, all shaped by a single design hand from saloon to cabin.
Francesco Paszkowski handles both exterior and interior, and that continuity gives the S501 a coherence many yachts her size lack between the two. The accommodation spreads across five cabins, generous by the standard of a sub-500 ton yacht, with the finish and detailing of a considerably larger vessel. A crew of nine keeps the yacht running, a number that reflects her genuine size and guest capacity rather than the lighter crewing her tonnage certificate might suggest to anyone reading the paperwork alone.
A tender garage with its own crane keeps the toys out of sight until they are needed.
The current EVO generation reworked the main saloon into a more open space with larger windows and extended the flybridge, changes that add light and usable deck area without disturbing the yacht’s settled proportions. A fold down platform at the transom brings the waterline within easy reach for swimming and tender access, the kind of practical detail that matters more in daily use than any amount of show. It is a yacht built to be used from the garage at the waterline all the way up to the sundeck, not simply admired from the dock.
Multiple hulls delivered and more in build. The S501 has become Tankoa’s most proven platform.
She measures 49.9 metres on a 9.4 metre beam, drawing 2.2 metres at 499 gross tons, with twin MTU engines each rated at 2,000 horsepower. Naval architecture by Professor Tommaso Spadolini and design by Francesco Paszkowski give her a settled, coherent identity, and a 4,000 nautical mile range adds genuine capability behind the styling. At close to 30 million, she offers an owner the space, range and finish of a much larger yacht, with the crewing and classification advantages of staying just under the 500 ton line.
