The standard twin Volvo Penta IPS400 diesel pods, 300hp each, remain available for owners who prefer inboard simplicity, but the option fitted to this configuration, three Mercury Verado V10 outboards at 400hp apiece, is what defines her character. Wajer says the 38S reaches full speed in under ten seconds. Cruise sits at a comfortable 28 knots, and even run hard for a day on the water she covers 250 nautical miles before needing fuel from her 730 litre tank. At 7.5 tonnes displacement, she is light enough for the outboards to work efficiently and stiff enough at speed that the hull never feels like it is chasing the engines.

An enlarged sunroof shades the full length of the cockpit, its panels able to carry optional solar cells. The helm has been reworked around two flush Garmin displays, simplifying what used to be a busier dashboard. The 38S is built for day running rather than nights aboard, with capacity for 16 guests and a single crew member to manage them. Wajer’s engineers put the interior volume freed by the outboard layout into deck space and stowage rather than a below deck suite, which keeps the yacht light and her performance figures honest. An optional gyrostabiliser and generator extend her comfort at anchor, while the shallow 0.9 metre draught opens up coves and sandbanks that deeper drafted day boats simply cannot reach.
