PANGEA is a 25.9 metre Arcadia 85, an Italian motor yacht built in 2014 and given a full refit in 2021, and unlike almost anything else of her length. Arcadia builds a single level yacht, low and wide, wrapped in glass and topped with solar panels, and the idea behind her is simple: to put the guests and the sea on the same plane, in a bright, quiet, efficient boat that feels more like a glass villa on the water than a conventional flybridge cruiser. For a family or a group who value light, space and calm over speed, with eight guests across four cabins, she is a genuinely different way to spend a week.
Her point of difference is the way the whole main deck opens to the sea. Where most yachts stack their decks and close the interior off from the water, the Arcadia keeps the salon, the dining area and the aft deck on one continuous level and wraps them in full height glass, so the room fills with daylight and the coast stays in view from almost everywhere aboard. Solar panels over the roof feed her systems and keep her quiet at anchor, part of a design built around comfort and efficiency rather than outright performance.
She is a calm boat to be aboard. The semi displacement hull is made for easy, economical cruising at a gentle pace, so the days unfold slowly and the fuel bill stays modest, and the low, wide shape gives her a steady, planted feel at anchor. A crew of four run her, and the whole yacht is arranged so that guests spend their time in the light and close to the water, whether that means a long lunch in the glass salon or an afternoon spread across the open decks.
Inside, PANGEA is bright and uncluttered. The main salon gathers pale sofas around low tables under the wraparound glazing, opening straight out to the aft deck at anchor, and a dining table sits forward beneath the solar roof for the whole party. The galley is finished to the same standard as the guest spaces, a sign of how completely she was set up for charter. The mood throughout is soft and neutral, the joinery kept light so that the sea and the sky do the work.
Accommodation is for eight guests across four cabins, all with their own bathrooms. The master is a wide, bright double with hull windows at the waterline, the VIP carries the same light palette with an armchair alongside the bed, and two twin cabins complete the layout with single beds for children or friends sharing. The mix of a master, a VIP and two twins suits a family travelling together as easily as two or three couples, with the two lead cabins giving real space of their own.
Her home water is Sardinia and the wider West Mediterranean, and she is well matched to it. From the granite anchorages of the Costa Smeralda and the clear channels of the La Maddalena islands across to Corsica and the Italian coast, the cruising is some of the finest in the Mediterranean, the anchorages sit close together and the towns come alive after dark. With her glass wrapped main deck, her solar assisted quiet and four comfortable cabins, PANGEA offers a bright, calm and unusual way to cruise one of the loveliest corners of the sea.
