Spirit of Ponant is a Lagoon Seventy 7, the largest sailing catamaran in the Lagoon range, delivered in 2024 with naval architecture by VPLP and interiors by Nauta Design. She was built for the French expedition line Ponant, and she carries that brief into private charter: wide, light and quiet, designed to move under sail and to live at anchor with room to spare.
The appeal of a catamaran this size is space, and Spirit of Ponant uses every metre of her 11 metre beam. Two hulls give her stability under way and a deck plan that feels more like a small ship than a yacht. Guests spread out naturally, from the shaded aft cockpit to the forward lounge, without ever feeling on top of one another.
The flybridge is the headline. It runs nearly the full width of the yacht, with sun pads, shaded seating and an alfresco bar, and it doubles as the helm station so the captain can sail the boat while guests stay in the sun. Forward, a second lounge sits over the trampolines, the classic catamaran spot for watching the bows cut through clear water. At the stern, a broad platform opens onto the sea for swimming, paddleboarding and launching the toys.
Inside, the main saloon is finished in pale woods and soft neutral tones by Nauta Design, with glazing on every side that keeps the connection to the water constant. A comfortable lounge sits alongside a dining table, and the galley is built into the social space rather than hidden away, so the chef stays part of the day. The mood is calm and contemporary, light rather than heavy, exactly what a warm water sailing holiday should feel like.
Spirit of Ponant sleeps twelve guests across six cabins, four doubles and two twins, each with its own ensuite and natural light. The master stateroom takes a private position with sea view windows and a quiet seating corner, while the further cabins are generous enough for couples, families or friends travelling together. A crew of four, including a chef, runs the yacht and looks after the guest experience from the first morning to the last.
Her range is genuinely global. She has cruised the Mediterranean around Corsica, the Seychelles and Southeast Asia, and she charters both as a full private yacht and, on selected itineraries, by the cabin. Under sail she is efficient and easy, and under power her twin engines handle the calms and the harbour work without fuss.
On deck, the toy locker keeps pace with the cruising grounds, with paddleboards, snorkelling gear and water toys that turn each anchorage into a swimming and diving base. The tender handles beach drops and shore runs, and the wide bathing platform makes getting in and out of the water effortless for every age on board.
What makes her matter is the combination: real sailing ability, the deck volume of a much larger vessel, and interiors with a clear design hand. For a family or a group who want to sail somewhere beautiful without giving up space or comfort, Spirit of Ponant is a considered, modern choice for a week on the water.
