Below ten metres a walkaround is often a compromise, with side decks too narrow to use safely. At eleven metres the beam finally allows the real thing. There is space to place a foot flat, a grab rail at the right height, and a bulwark deep enough to lean into when the boat rolls. The cabin sides are drawn inboard to make room, which costs a little interior volume and repays it every time someone needs to reach the anchor.
