Thirty seven knots from a yacht carrying more glass than steel.
Twin MAN V12 diesels sit at the heart of the 76 Perseo Super, and specified in their range topping 1,800 horsepower form they deliver a 37 knot maximum and a 32 knot cruise, figures that hold up well against sportier, lighter yachts nearby on the dock. A Xenta electro-hydraulic steer by wire system, with independent rudder control, gives her sharper turning than her 53 tonne displacement suggests. Humphree interceptors manage trim automatically underway, while a proportional bow thruster and an optional docking joystick handle the close quarters work. Range runs to 320 nautical miles, enough for a genuine multi day passage rather than a day out and back.
Three decks, and each one is given a distinct job rather than repeating the one below it.
The sun deck carries a central sun pad, a second helm station and a bow lounge, effectively a private upper world separate from life below. The main deck holds the principal living area, an open plan lounge in sand coloured oak with a dining space for eight and a helm forward to starboard, glazed on every side to bring the water in. Below, the accommodation deck keeps three cabins and a separate crew cabin entirely apart from the guest areas above, reached by its own stair from the cockpit. The result is a yacht where forty square metres of glass never comes at the expense of privacy, each level doing one thing well.
A midship master, a bow VIP, and a third cabin besides, sleeping eight without anyone doubling up on space.
The master stateroom sits amidships with a leather headboard bed and ergonomically finished joinery, while the VIP forward carries twin wardrobes and its own separate shower. A third guest cabin to starboard completes the layout, with enhanced acoustic insulation built into the forward and aft walls to keep the engine room’s presence out of every cabin. A small lounge on the same deck, finished in a lighter oak with an L shaped sofa, gives guests somewhere to retreat that isn’t the cabin or the main saloon above. Two crew have their own cabin accessed directly from the cockpit, keeping service entirely separate from guest circulation.
An opening roof over the lounge turns the main deck into an open air room whenever the weather allows.
Sand coloured oak runs throughout the main deck’s open plan lounge, furnished with pieces from Gentili&Mosconi and black leather chairs by Arper, a considered rather than matched interior. Aft, the cockpit carries its own teak dining table seating eight beneath the Riva crest, with an optional bar corner in mahogany and Corian for owners who entertain more than they dine formally. A garage beneath the swim platform houses a Williams Turbojet tender, launched from a platform that lowers to nearly the full width of the stern. Between sun deck, main deck and cockpit, there is very rarely a reason to be indoors unless the guest chooses to be.
Fifty three tonnes, thirty seven knots, and three cabins for eight, a specification that reads more like a small superyacht than a sports cruiser.
She measures 22.2 metres on a 5.8 metre beam, with a 1.8 metre draught, a fuel capacity of 5,600 litres and a range of 320 nautical miles at cruise. Twin MAN V12 diesels come standard, with the range topping 1,800 horsepower pairing available for owners who prioritise pace. Officina Italiana Design shaped her exterior and interior under Riva’s own engineering team, continuing the 76 Perseo line that first won the yard recognition for this size of yacht. With capacity for 12 by day and 8 overnight, supported by two crew, she suits an owner who wants proper range and proper accommodation without stepping up to a full flybridge motor yacht.
