Galeon 620 Fly Yacht Review

Space, not length, is what Galeon pulls off on the 620 Fly. A deliberately asymmetrical main deck trades a wider starboard walkway for a saloon that reads larger than her 19.8 metres actually are, one of the more inventive solutions in the flybridge class this generation. Twin MAN V8-1200 engines, matching the exact specification named in independent sea trials, drive her to 32 knots and a 26 knot cruise, with a 300 nautical mile range from 3,000 litres of fuel. At the stern, two water level terraces flank the bathing platform, and a private staircase from the owner’s cabin leads straight down to a terrace of her own, an arrangement few yachts this size can match. Three cabins sleep six guests in comfort, with crew quarters kept separate aft. For a buyer who wants real owner’s privacy alongside a proper Mediterranean entertaining platform, the 620 Fly earns her place at the centre of Galeon’s Fly range.
Design & Lines

An asymmetrical deck is a bold thing to build at this size.

Rather than widen the whole hull, Galeon gives the 620 Fly a wider walkway down her starboard side only, freeing extra width for the saloon without adding a centimetre to her 19.8 metre length. Forward, two large sunpads slide fore and aft on runners, and a central seating section rotates to face wherever the sun or the conversation happens to be. The foredeck itself is moulded rather than teak laid, a practical choice for low maintenance cruising. Tony Castro, in a partnership with Galeon stretching more than two decades, draws both the naval architecture and the exterior lines, and the asymmetry reads as confidence rather than compromise.

At Sea

Thirty two knots, and still composed.

Twin MAN V8-1200 engines, the specification independently tested on this model, give the 620 Fly a 32 knot top speed and a settled 26 knot cruise, with a 300 nautical mile range from 3,000 litres of fuel and a 1.1 metre draught that keeps shallower anchorages within reach. Buyers chasing still more power can specify Volvo Penta D13-1000 or Caterpillar C18 packages instead. A pantograph door beside the lower helm opens directly onto the side deck, giving a clean route from the wheel to the dockside during mooring, while good airflow and clear sightlines aft make the flybridge just as easy to dock from.

Interior & Accommodation

Six guests, three cabins, and no sense of compromise.

The owner’s cabin runs amidships with large hull windows and styling kept deliberately restrained, built around the private staircase that leads down to her own terrace at the stern. Forward, the VIP cabin gains a skylight alongside hull side glazing and an ensuite with an enclosed shower, while a twin cabin completes the accommodation for a third couple or children. Galeon offers five interior themes across walnut, eucalyptus and leather, finished with indirect lighting throughout. The saloon itself runs low side glazing the full width of the deck, reading noticeably wider than her 19.8 metres on paper, the direct benefit of that asymmetrical deck plan above.

On Board

The beach club here is not an afterthought.

Two lower terraces sit either side of the hydraulic bathing platform at water level, while an upper balcony folds out above to form a raised bar for guests who would rather watch than swim. The starboard terrace carries retractable cleats, so it doubles as a berth for a tender or water toys when not in use as a lounge. Up on the flybridge, a fixed hardtop shelters a bar fitted with twin grills, refrigeration and generous work surfaces, and the cockpit dining table sits beneath a deep overhang with a direct connection through to the galley.

Range & Autonomy

Three thousand litres buys real cruising freedom.

A 3,000 litre fuel capacity carries the 620 Fly roughly 300 nautical miles at her 26 knot cruise, enough to island hop for days without planning around a fuel dock. Crew live aft beside the bathing platform, in a two berth cabin with its own small kitchenette and bathroom, kept well away from the owner’s quarters at the opposite end of the yacht. Galeon’s own engineering department oversees the build throughout, and the yacht is specified to host twelve for the day and six overnight, a day to night ratio built for an owner who entertains often but keeps overnight numbers close and comfortable.
