Forty three knots, delivered by outboards alone.
The 38 FXO is driven by Yamaha XF425 outboard engines, reaching a 43 knot top speed and a 26 knot cruise, performance that few flybridge yachts of this length can match. Outboard propulsion also keeps her draught to just 0.9 metres, shallow enough for anchorages a conventional sterndrive flybridge would have to avoid altogether. Yamaha’s Helm Master EX joystick system brings precise low speed control to docking and close quarters work, while a Seakeeper 3 gyroscopic stabiliser keeps roll in check once she is underway. The result is a boat that handles like a sportboat and cruises like a yacht.
Her flybridge is the point.
A full upper deck gives the 38 FXO 360 degree views, a dedicated sun lounge and a second helm station, so the owner can run the boat from above the waterline as easily as from the main console. The hull itself is shaped for outboard power, with a shallower, flatter running surface than a sterndrive flybridge would need, and a beam of 3.6 metres that keeps her stable at rest. Twin Garmin 8616 displays sit at both helms, and underwater lighting extends the deck’s presence after dark. Every line on her exterior serves the outboard layout rather than disguising it.
Two cabins, four berths, and a forward stateroom built to feel larger than her length suggests.
The forward stateroom carries a queen berth and its own television, while the aft cabin’s twin berths convert to a king for owners who prefer to sleep together. A single head with a walk-in shower serves both cabins, finished to the same standard as the saloon above. Climate control runs through the upper saloon and down into the accommodation deck, keeping the yacht comfortable for the four guests who sleep aboard. For a 38 foot flybridge, the below deck volume is a genuine point of difference rather than an afterthought.
The galley sits where the breeze is, not hidden below.
A climate controlled upper saloon houses the galley, fitted as standard with a refrigerator, freezer and sink, with an electric smokeless grill available as an option for owners who want to cook outdoors without the smoke. A television folds away at the push of a button when it is not in use, keeping the saloon uncluttered. Regal’s ARX remote audio system follows guests around the boat, from the saloon to the transom and swim platform, so the entertaining does not stop when the conversation moves outside. A 12kW diesel generator keeps all of it running independently of shore power.
She is specified, not simply equipped.
She carries 1,135 litres of fuel for a range of around 300 nautical miles at cruise, enough for a genuine weekend away rather than a day trip. Her layout accommodates eight guests by day and four overnight across two cabins, with a single crew member aboard to run her. Naval architecture, exterior and interior design all stayed in house with Regal’s own design team, and the engineering carries the yard’s own name too. For an owner moving up from a day boat but not ready for a full flybridge motor yacht, the 38 FXO offers both in one hull.
