Outboard power, and a flybridge hull built specifically around it.
Twin Yamaha F425 XTO outboards drive the 42 FXO to a cruising speed of 25 knots and a top speed of 35 knots, with twin Volvo Penta D6-440 or D6-480 inboard packages available for owners who prefer that configuration. Raising the outboards brings the draught up within reach of a beach landing, while a 1,400 litre fuel tank supports a cruising range of roughly 300 nautical miles. Seakeeper gyro stabilisation comes as standard, taming roll at anchor and on passage, and the layout leaves a full beam engine bay with room to spare for additional equipment.
A cockpit and saloon on one level, joined by glass rather than steps.
L shaped transom seating wraps to starboard, with a removable section opening a path to the gunwale for docking and on to the foredeck. An electric grill and a fridge sit built into the aft deck, aligned with the galley inside, so cooking can happen wherever the conversation is. Sliding glass doors fold the saloon and cockpit into a single entertaining space when the weather allows, and a hidden television drops from the galley ceiling on demand. The flybridge sits above on a teak stepped stair behind a wide acrylic hatch, offering a full 360 degree view from a proper captain’s seat.
Two staterooms, one open atrium, and light carried down through both.
Forward, a walkaround queen island berth makes the most of the beam, with its own head access, a television and cedar hanging lockers. Aft, the second cabin runs a king berth that splits into twins when needed, alongside a settee and a cedar lined armoire. Between them, an open atrium brings in natural light through a run of windows above head height, and owners can specify either a refreshment centre with fridge or a second head on its port side. The starboard head carries a separate teak floored shower, a glass vessel sink and mirrored cabinetry, finished to the same standard as the cabins either side of it.
The flybridge is where the 42 FXO earns her keep as a proper sport yacht.
A large captain’s seat sits ahead of a glass cockpit display, with autopilot, joystick steering and cruise control all within reach. An L shaped lounge wraps the aft starboard corner, while a reclining seat to port connects through to a sunpad beside the helm, enough seating for a full gathering above the waterline. Access is by a stainless steel and teak stairway from the cockpit, closed off by a tinted hatch when not in use. Optional radar and upgraded navigation displays extend her range as a serious coastal cruiser rather than a fair weather day boat alone.
A flagship positioning backed by a specification to match.
The 42 FXO measures 13.1 metres on a 4 metre beam, with a 1.1 metre draught, and is priced from 650,000 euros new. Twin outboard or inboard power options, Seakeeper stabilisation as standard, and accommodation for four across two cabins position her for an owner who wants genuine versatility, close to a beach one afternoon, across open water the next. She is built and engineered in house by Regal, a yard that has built its flagship around outboard propulsion rather than treating it as an afterthought.
