The same hull as her closed bow sister, the same appetite for speed.
Standard power comes from a Mercury 6.2 litre V8 at 350 horsepower, with a 430 horsepower version available for owners who want the full 56 knots the Mirage platform is capable of. At cruise she settles to a comfortable 25 knots, a notably gentler pace than the closed bow model’s 35, better suited to the open, more exposed cockpit of the Air variant. A 240 litre fuel tank gives a 200 nautical mile range, enough to cover real distance between anchorages rather than just a short run from the marina. The result is a boat that still moves with conviction, but is tuned for comfortable open air cruising rather than outright pace.
Open the bow, add a centre console, and the 747 Mirage becomes an entirely different proposition on deck.
Launched in 2015 as the open variant of the Mirage range, the Air keeps the same 7.5 metre length and 2.5 metre beam as the closed bow boat, but replaces the enclosed foredeck with a genuinely usable forward deck area. The centre console helm sits amidships, keeping sightlines clear in both directions and freeing the bow and stern for guests rather than stowage. Frauscher’s in-house design team carries the same hard edged, contemporary language seen across the closed bow Mirage into this more open shape, so the Air reads as a natural variant of the range rather than a simplified version of it.
Eight guests, one continuous deck, and almost nothing standing between them and the water.
With no cabin to accommodate, the Mirage Air dedicates her full 7.5 metre length to usable deck space, from a forward lounging area through the centre console helm to an aft bathing platform built for swimming and tender access. An optional bimini gives shade over the console and aft seating when the sun demands it, without permanently altering the boat’s open profile. At a 0.9 metre draught, she can work close to shore and into shallow anchorages that a deeper hulled boat would have to avoid. It is a boat built entirely for daylight hours on the water, with every square metre on deck rather than below it.
The bathing platform, not a saloon, is where the Mirage Air’s social life happens.
A wide aft platform sits at the waterline, built for swimming, boarding a tender, or simply gathering before and after a swim stop, and it carries much of the entertaining load that a cabin boat would put below deck. Forward of the console, a cushioned bow area doubles as a sun pad for up to eight guests, while the open sides keep sightlines to the water constant from almost anywhere aboard. There is no attempt here to replicate the closed bow Mirage’s cabin comfort, and there does not need to be. The Air is built for a different rhythm, shorter days, more swimming, and guests who would rather be on deck than below it.
A simpler specification than her closed bow sister, and a more focused one.
At 7.5 metres length, 2.5 metres beam and a 0.9 metre draught, the Mirage Air shares her core dimensions with the standard 747 Mirage, but drops the cabin entirely in favour of open deck space for eight day guests. Naval architecture, exterior design, interior design and engineering are all handled by Frauscher’s own in-house teams, keeping the boat’s engineering and styling consistent across the range. With no crew required to operate her and a choice of 350 or 430 horsepower Mercury power, she suits an owner who wants a capable, fast day boat or yacht tender without the overhead of an overnight vessel. For pure deck time and open water speed, the Mirage Air is a direct and uncomplicated choice.
