Greece Charter Itinerary

Greece Itinerary

Greece Yacht Charter
The Ionian is the gentler face of Greece u2014 greener, softer and more sheltered than the Aegean, its islands close enough to string together in a single unhurried week. This route runs from Corfu in the north to Zakynthos in the south, pairing the harbours that carry the region’s history with the coves that reward arriving by sea.

You move between two registers. There is the culture u2014 Venetian old towns, hilltop villages, the ruins and legends of Ithaca u2014 and there is the water: white-cliffed beaches, sea caves and anchorages best kept to yourself. Each is a short passage from the next.

Every route we shape is a starting point, not a fixed schedule. Stay a second day where the light is right, move with the weather, or follow a captain who knows the cove worth the detour. That freedom is the point of chartering. What follows is one considered way to read the Ionian; the rest we tailor to you.
Day 1

Corfu

The week begins in Corfu, where Venetian, French and British hands have all left their mark. Wander the arcaded streets of the UNESCO-listed old town in the cool of the morning, then cross to the mainland coast at Syvota for the first swim of the trip. A short hop south lies Paxos, all olive groves and small harbours, with the sea cave of Ipapantis worth the tender ride.

Day 2

Lefkada

Sail on to Lefkada, green with pine and edged by some of the Ionian’s most dramatic beaches. The village of Vasiliki draws windsurfers to its afternoon breeze; Porto Katsiki draws everyone else, its white cliffs dropping straight into water the colour of glass. Anchor off, swim, and let the day set its own pace.

Day 3

Meganisi

Round Skorpios, the island Onassis once kept for himself, and carry on to Meganisi. Ashore at Spartochori, whitewashed houses look down over the water from the hilltop; below, a string of quiet coves waits for the tender. This is a day for doing little, well: a long lunch, a longer swim, dinner under the stars in a bay of your own.

Day 4

Kefalonia

Kefalonia, the largest of the Ionian islands, arrives with a flourish. Drop anchor beneath the limestone cliffs that frame Myrtos, one of the most striking beaches in Greece, then call at Assos, a pastel village gathered under a Venetian fort. Fiskardo closes the day: a harbour of candlelit tavernas that survived where others fell.

Day 5

Ithaca

A short passage brings you to Ithaca, the island Homer gave to Odysseus. Swim off Afales in the morning quiet before turning into Vathi, its deep natural harbour ringed by hills. Ashore, the monastery of the Taxiarchon and the climb to the old ruins reward the effort with the long view back over the anchorage.

Day 6

Kefalonia

Return to Kefalonia for its stranger pleasures. The Cave of the Nymphs and the underground lake at Melissani sit below ground in improbable colour; above, Antisamos stretches gold against the pines. An easy, unhurried day, closed with dinner on deck under a sky full of stars.

Day 7

Zakynthos

The week ends at Zakynthos, the island the Venetians called the flower of the Levant. Its headline is Navagio: a shipwreck run aground on white sand, walled in by cliffs and reachable only from the water. One last swim in that impossible blue, and the Ionian lets you go.
