About Totem

TOTEM pairs two design studios rarely seen on the same commission. Omega Architects drew her exterior; Mojo-Stumer Associates shaped the interior. The result, delivered by Heesen in 2010 and renewed with a full hull repaint and interior upgrade in 2024, is a 50.5-metre yacht whose lines and rooms read as one coherent idea rather than two firms working in sequence.

The layout answers a question most 50-metre yachts leave unresolved: where does the owner actually work, read, or take a call away from the guests? TOTEM’s full-beam master occupies the main deck with its own study attached, a genuinely separate room rather than a desk pushed into a corner of the suite. It is the kind of detail that only shows up once a yacht has spent real seasons in charter and been refined in response.

Above, a sky lounge opens directly onto the aft bridge deck, where a dining table sits under open sky rather than behind glass. It functions as a second salon with its own personality, not a smaller echo of the main one below. The sundeck goes further still: a fully equipped gym lit by natural light sits at one end, a forward-facing hot tub at the other, giving guests a legitimate reason to spend a morning on the top deck rather than treating it as an afterthought between the pool deck and the tender garage.

That garage is generously proportioned by design, not by necessity, it holds a proper water toy and diving equipment inventory rather than the minimum a 50-metre yacht can get away with. Stabilizers work both at anchor and under way, a pairing that matters more on a steel-hulled Heesen than it might elsewhere, holding her steady whether guests are diving off the platform or having dinner mid-passage.

Inside, Mojo-Stumer’s palette runs warm and layered, rich wood tones, tactile leather, considered lighting, carried consistently from the main salon through the formal dining room and into each of the five staterooms. Three doubles and two twins sleep ten, with capacity for twelve at the table when day guests join. It is a configuration built for a mixed group rather than a single family unit, flexible enough to suit couples travelling together or a family bringing along a wider circle.

Under way, TOTEM cruises at 13.5 knots and tops out at 15, numbers that place her firmly in the displacement category her steel hull was built for, unhurried, stable, and efficient over the distances a Greek or wider Mediterranean season demands. RINA classification and a 6,000-nautical-mile range back that up with the kind of engineering credentials that matter less for a single afternoon and more across a full charter itinerary.

What makes TOTEM worth a serious look against newer 50-metre tonnage is the combination: a 2024 refit that keeps her current, a design pedigree pairing two respected studios, and layout decisions, the study, the sky lounge, the sundeck gym, that come from experience rather than a spec sheet. She charters Greece and the Mediterranean from €240,000 per week, crewed by twelve for guests who want a yacht that has already worked out where everything should go.
