About BATELLO

Some yachts are built to a brief. Batello was built to set one: the first hull in Oceanco’s Y700 platform, and the vessel that established the standard-platform approach the yard’s later “Simply Custom” series now follows. Nearly two decades on, an extensive 2025 refit by FM Architettura has kept her current rather than nostalgic — new sport and social spaces layered onto naval architecture that was already ahead of its time.

At 80 metres, the scale shows up first in what she can carry rather than what she looks like. The garage empties into a genuinely serious toy fleet: a 17-metre HCB chase boat capable of covering real distance independently, four fresh jet skis, e-foils, Seabobs, kayaks and a pair of Tiwal sailing dinghies, alongside dedicated fishing gear for heavy game and deep drop. A sport programme most 80-metre yachts don’t attempt sits on the bridge deck aft — a regulation basketball and pickleball court, a golf driving range, an outdoor cinema screen — next to a rock-climbing wall and a slide dropping from height into a heated main-deck pool. This is a yacht built for a charter party that wants to stay active, not simply admire the view.

The interior runs on contrast rather than a single mood. A light, contemporary main salon opens onto a music room built around a baby grand piano — a genuine rarity in this size class. Elsewhere, cherry-panelled studies and sitting rooms carry the warmer, more traditional register of Alberto Pinto’s original interior design, still intact beneath the refit. Nine cabins spread across the decks, anchored by a full-beam owner’s suite with its own private terrace and twin jacuzzis — a configuration that reads as genuinely separate from the guest accommodation rather than merely larger.

Wellness gets its own floor of attention: a window-walled gym looks out over open water, a dedicated massage room runs alongside a hair and beauty salon, and a spa therapist works from a treatment table set up on deck for guests who would rather have the sea as a backdrop than four walls. A glass-walled lift connects the decks for anyone who would rather not take the stairs between the pool and the cabins.

Outside, teak decks wrap an oval-skylighted upper lounge that shifts from lunch table to sundowner bar without needing to be reset, while twin jacuzzis and a full-length pool give guests somewhere to be at every hour rather than one obvious gathering point. Wheelchair access from bridge deck to lower deck via guest elevator extends the yacht’s reach to guests who need it, a detail not every vessel this size bothers to build in.

Batello charters the Mediterranean through summer before repositioning to the Caribbean and the Bahamas for winter, trading a European high season for tropical water without ever changing what she offers on board. Steel hull, Rolls-Royce zero-speed stabilisers and a genuine 20-knot top end mean the passages between the two are no less comfortable than the anchorages at either end. Fewer 80-metre yachts on the charter market can point to a resume this specific — an award-winning original build, a top-to-bottom 2025 refresh, and a toy and sport inventory built for groups who want their week to be an itinerary, not a backdrop.
