Mergui Archipelago Charter Itinerary

Mergui Archipelago Itinerary

Mergui Archipelago Yacht Charter
A week through the Mergui Archipelago off southern Myanmar, one of the last great untouched cruising grounds on earth, some 800 islands almost empty of people. This is true wilderness, jungle-clad islands, hidden lagoons and reefs rarely dived, home to the nomadic Moken sea gypsies. Expect deserted beaches and secret bays, dramatic dive sites and a genuine sense of exploration far beyond the modern world.

Every route we shape is a starting point, not a fixed schedule. Stay a second day where the light is right, move with the weather, or follow a captain to a quieter reef. What follows is one considered way to read it; the rest we tailor to you.
Day 1

Kawthaung & the Southern Islands

Step aboard near Kawthaung at the southern tip of Myanmar and sail into the Mergui Archipelago, leaving all trace of the modern world behind. Anchor off an empty island for a first swim.
Day 2

Cockburn Island

Cruise to beautiful Cockburn Island, ringed by dazzling white sand and healthy coral reefs. Snorkel or dive the clear water among turtles and reef fish, and laze on a beach with no one else in sight.
Day 3

Lampi Island

Sail to Lampi Island, heart of a marine national park, cloaked in dense rainforest and fringed with mangroves. Cruise a jungle river by tender, watch for wildlife, and anchor in a secluded bay.
Day 4

The Moken Sea Gypsies

Visit a community of the nomadic Moken, the sea gypsies who have roamed these waters in wooden boats for generations. Learn something of their way of life, then anchor off a quiet island for the afternoon.
Day 5

Nyaung Wee & the Hidden Lagoons

Cruise among a maze of uninhabited islands and hidden lagoons, kayaking into secret bays enclosed by jungle-clad cliffs. Snorkel vibrant coral and swim in water that few have ever seen.
Day 6

Western Rocky & the Dive Sites

Sail to the legendary dive sites of the outer archipelago, such as Western Rocky and Black Rock, famed for dramatic underwater walls and abundant marine life. Dive or snorkel the pristine reefs.
Day 7

Great Swinton

The voyage ends among the beautiful beaches of the northern islands, with a final chance to snorkel a pristine reef and swim from an empty shore. Toast a true week of exploration.
