The Predator 57 MKII took a boat that had led its segment since January 2015 and reworked it rather than replaced it. The hull dimensions barely move, 18.24 metres overall on a 4.70 metre beam, but displacement rises to 27,900 kg, which points to where the changes went: structure and fit-out rather than shape.
The headline change is how the boat opens up. An electric lowering door drops between the saloon and the cockpit, so in warm weather the two become one entertaining space with sight lines running straight through. The hardtop roof opens fully. Together they let the same yacht work as a closed, air-conditioned cruiser in spring and as an open sports boat in August.
Aft, the moulded cockpit carries a large L-shaped seating arrangement and a wet bar, placed so whoever is serving is not cut off from the group. It is a layout that rewards long lunches at anchor.
Sunseeker publishes 2,200 litres of fuel, 600 litres of fresh water and a 1.30 metre draft, shallow enough to work the Mediterranean anchorages a deeper 60 footer has to skip.
Boats reached the market between 2017 and 2019, and the generation trades above the original 57. For a buyer choosing between the two, the opening hardtop and the cockpit door are what the premium buys.
