About Destiny

Destiny is a 98-foot Westship motor yacht built in 1988 and comprehensively refitted in 2019. At 30 metres and 150 gross tonnes, she carries the volume and sea-keeping of a generation of American builds engineered for ocean passages rather than coastal hopping alone. The 2019 refit brought interiors, systems and finishes forward without altering the hull form that earned Westship its blue-water reputation.

She accommodates six guests in three cabins: a full-beam master suite with a king berth and an oval cove ceiling, a queen double and a twin, each with its own en-suite. A crew of four lives aboard and handles everything from provisioning and cocktails to jet-ski fuelling and tender operations.

On deck, Destiny separates social spaces with unusual clarity for a 30-metre yacht. The aft deck runs from the transom to the salon doors, set with both a dining table and a curved lounge for easy gathering after a day on the water. Above, the flybridge carries its own wet bar, a second dining area and a sunpad, giving the yacht two self-contained entertainment decks that work independently. Six guests never feel crowded, and the crew can serve dinner on one level while sunset drinks continue on the other.

Inside, the main salon combines a marble-topped bar, a deep settee and a formal dining area framed by aquatic artwork and seascape paintings that echo the Bahamian waterscape beyond the windows. A galley with a dinette banquette sits forward, where the chef can plate and serve without crossing guest areas, a practical layout that pays dividends at anchor when the rhythm of the day revolves around the table.

The master suite takes the full beam of the lower deck, defined by its oval cove ceiling and mirrored headboard wall, details that have survived both decades and the refit. The queen guest cabin sits aft with its own wardrobe and en-suite, while the twin cabin forward offers two coral-toned berths suited to younger guests or a couple travelling with children. All three are finished in warm timber and carpeted throughout, quieter underfoot than tiled alternatives and a deliberate choice for a yacht that spends her nights at anchor in sheltered harbours.

Based year-round in the Bahamas, Destiny knows her cruising ground well. A semi-displacement hull delivers a maximum of 22 knots for repositioning and a comfortable cruising speed of 12 knots for longer runs between island groups, Nassau to the Exumas in a morning or across to Eleuthera in an afternoon. At displacement speeds she settles into a quiet, stable ride that keeps fuel consumption reasonable on multi-day itineraries.

The yacht carries two jet skis, a centre-console tender and assorted water toys, all accessible from the stern. The 2019 refit refreshed the tender rig and swim platform alongside the electronics and air-conditioning plant, so the operational side of the yacht matches the cosmetic refresh.

For a group of six looking for a private Bahamas charter at a sensible weekly rate, Destiny offers proven sea-keeping, well-separated social spaces and an experienced crew who know these waters island by island.
