Four cabins on a thirty metre hull is the smallest layout that still works as a proper charter. Eight guests sleep in four real rooms, the crew stays out of the way, and the yacht remains small enough to take a berth in Portofino or Saint Tropez in the middle of August rather than anchoring outside.
Thirteen yachts hold this configuration, running from twenty six to thirty two metres. Sanlorenzo has two with Notynog and Azzurri, and Sunseeker, Pershing, Princess, Ferretti, Monte Carlo Yachts, Ocean Alexander, Benetti and Feadship take one each. Attimo and Smart Spirit are the two sailing hulls. Nine of the thirteen take eight guests, the rest stretch to nine or eleven.
Weekly rates run from eighteen thousand five hundred euros for Smart Spirit to eighty three thousand for Azzurri, with the median at sixty five thousand and most of the fleet between fifty five and seventy five thousand. An advance provisioning allowance of roughly thirty percent covers fuel, food, berthing and drinks. This is the band where a week afloat still compares with a villa.
Crews run three to five, which keeps the week informal. Service is close rather than choreographed, and the captain will usually change the plan on the morning if the wind turns.
