Mahe and the inner Seychelles are among the most family-friendly charter destinations in the world, combining warm and calm seas, exceptional beaches, friendly wildlife and short distances between anchorages. The reliability of the weather during the two settled seasons and the variety of activities from snorkelling to tortoise encounters make the Seychelles consistently popular with families returning to the Indian Ocean. Five family yachts operate from Mahe, all with crews experienced in managing the inner island circuit and the marine park permit requirements.
Family charter rates from Mahe run from approximately 75,000 to 250,000 euros per week before the advance provisioning allowance of around 30 percent, which covers fuel, provisions and marine park entry fees at the various protected areas. The Seychelles operates year-round, with the north-west monsoon season from December through March and the south-east trade season from May through October both suitable for family charters. April and October bring the inter-monsoon transition with more variable conditions.
The Praslin and La Digue circuit is the default family itinerary from Mahe. Anse Lazio on Praslin is regularly rated among the finest beaches in the world and is reachable by tender from a mooring in the bay. The sheltered beach at La Digue, with its pink granite boulders and shallow lagoon, is ideal for young children to paddle safely. Curieuse Island adds a giant tortoise encounter and Aride Island offers nesting seabird colonies. The whole circuit covers less than 60 miles.
