Finnish builders design around conditions most yards never consider. Hulls are laid up heavily, often with substantial insulation, and deck fittings are specified for loads that come with cold, steep water. Diesel heating is standard rather than optional, double glazing appears at surprisingly small sizes, and joinery is fitted to tolerances that survive humidity swings. The engineering is understated and the finish restrained, which is precisely the appeal.
