German construction starts from the systems outward. Wiring runs are labelled and accessible, plumbing is routed logically, and engine installations leave room for a spanner. Hulls are laid up conservatively, often with substantial stringers and bulkheads properly bonded rather than lightly tabbed. Deck hardware is chosen for load rather than appearance. None of it is showy, and all of it becomes obvious the first time something needs servicing.
