Croatia: Istria Charter Itinerary

Croatia: Istria Itinerary

Croatia: Istria Yacht Charter
A week around Istria, the green, Italian-flavoured peninsula at the head of the Adriatic, a coast of Roman ruins, Venetian towns and truffle-scented hills. Quieter and gentler than Dalmatia, this is a route of pastel harbours and pine-fringed islands, oyster fjords and wild capes. Expect a great Roman amphitheatre and Byzantine mosaics, national-park islands and clear coves, a characterful northern voyage.

Every route we shape is a starting point, not a fixed schedule. Stay a second day where the light is right, move with the weather, or follow a captain to a quieter cove. What follows is one considered way to read it; the rest we tailor to you.
Day 1

Pula

Step aboard at Pula, Istria’s largest town, crowned by one of the best-preserved Roman amphitheatres in the world. Explore the arena and old town, then set sail up the coast for a first swim.
Day 2

Brijuni Islands

Cruise to the Brijuni Islands, a green national park of wooded islets, Roman ruins and a curious safari park. Cycle the car-free paths, swim in a quiet bay, and take in the unusual history.
Day 3

Rovinj

Sail up the west coast to Rovinj, perhaps the most beautiful town in Istria, a cluster of pastel houses crowned by a Venetian bell tower. Explore the old town, then anchor in a nearby cove.
Day 4

The Rovinj Islands

Spend the day among the wooded islands and coves that ring Rovinj, a protected landscape of pine-fringed anchorages. Swim in the clear water, snorkel the reefs, and laze on deck in the shelter.
Day 5

Porec

Cruise to Porec, a handsome resort town whose UNESCO-listed Euphrasian Basilica holds some of the finest Byzantine mosaics in Europe. Visit the basilica, then anchor off a nearby beach for a swim.
Day 6

Lim Fjord

Sail into the dramatic Lim Fjord, a deep green channel cut into the coast and famed for its oysters and mussels. Taste them straight from the water, cruise the still inlet, and anchor in the calm.
Day 7

Cape Kamenjak

The voyage ends at wild Cape Kamenjak at Istria’s southern tip, a protected reserve of rugged coves and sea stacks. Swim in a hidden cove, snorkel the clear water, and toast a week around Istria.
