New Zealand Charter Itinerary

New Zealand Itinerary

New Zealand Yacht Charter
A week through the islands of New Zealand’s north, from the sub-tropical Bay of Islands down to the Hauraki Gulf and Auckland, a cruising ground of forested isles, marine reserves and vineyard islands. This is a gentle, green corner of the country, sheltered coves and white beaches, world-class diving and Mediterranean-style island life. Expect 144 islands and protected reserves, dolphins and gannets, an easy and beautiful voyage.

Every route we shape is a starting point, not a fixed schedule. Stay a second day where the light is right, move with the weather, or follow a captain to a quieter anchorage. What follows is one considered way to read it; the rest we tailor to you.
Day 1

Whangaroa

Begin your charter surrounded by crystal-clear water and stunning scenery at Whangaroa, a dramatic near-landlocked harbour of forested peaks. Anchor in the shelter, swim from the deck, and settle in.
Day 2

Bay of Islands

The Bay of Islands is an enchantingly beautiful archipelago of 144 islands, best explored by sea. Cruise among the isles, watch for dolphins, and anchor off a secluded white-sand beach for the afternoon.
Day 3

Poor Knights Islands

Cruise to the protected Poor Knights Islands Marine Reserve, a diverse paradise of sheltered coves, arches and one of the finest dive sites in the world. Snorkel or dive the clear water among abundant life.
Day 4

Great Barrier Island

Sail to Great Barrier Island, the New Zealand that time forgot, a wild idyll of forests, beaches and hot springs. Anchor in a quiet bay, hike to a lookout, and enjoy the deep sense of remoteness.
Day 5

Mercury Islands

Cruise to the protected Mercury Islands, home to endangered wildlife and ringed by clear water. Hike through fragrant groves, snorkel a sheltered cove, and take in the untouched natural beauty.
Day 6

Coromandel Peninsula

Sail to the Coromandel Peninsula, a slice of subtropical wilderness only a short hop from Auckland yet a world away. Visit Cathedral Cove, swim from a golden beach, and anchor in a quiet inlet.
Day 7

Waiheke Island

Cruise to Waiheke, a small Mediterranean-style island in the Hauraki Gulf, covered in olive groves and vineyards. Tour a winery, dine on local produce, and anchor off a sheltered bay.
Day 8

Hauraki Gulf

The voyage ends in the Hauraki Gulf, Auckland’s weekend playground, with miles of white-sand beaches and calm island-studded water. Take a final swim, then cruise in toward the city to close the week.
