South of France Charter Itinerary

South of France Itinerary

South of France Yacht Charter
The South of France is where the Mediterranean charter season begins, and where it is judged. A week here moves between two moods: the polish of the Riviera and the raw beauty of Corsica, each within easy reach of the other. This seven-day route runs from Cannes to the cliffs of Bonifacio, pairing the ports that define the coast with anchorages few charters ever reach.

You begin among the marquee names, Cannes, Saint-Tropez, Monaco, where the appeal is as much about being seen as about what there is to see. Then the itinerary turns, crossing to Corsica for the quieter half of the trip: a protected nature reserve accessible only from the water, and a medieval citadel set on white limestone above the sea.

Every route we shape is a starting point, not a fixed schedule. Linger a second day where the light is right, shift the plan around the weather, or follow a captain who knows a cove worth the detour. That freedom is the point of chartering. What follows is one considered way to read the coast, the rest we tailor to you.
Day 1

Cannes

The week opens in Cannes, the Riviera at its most composed. Walk the Croisette in the early evening, when the light softens and the palm-lined promenade fills without hurry. Behind the grand facades sit the boutiques and terraces that give the town its rhythm; offshore, the Îles de Lérins offer a calm anchorage and a short tender ride to pine-shaded coves. It is an easy, confident start, a sense of the coast before the week gathers pace.

Day 2

Saint-Tropez

A short passage west brings you to Saint-Tropez, a fishing village that never quite let go of its origins even as the world arrived. Morning is for the old port and the narrow lanes of La Ponche, before the day drifts toward Pampelonne and its long ribbon of sand. Anchor off the beach, and the shore becomes an extension of the yacht, lunch ashore, an afternoon in the water, the town waiting when you are ready for it.

Day 3

Saint-Tropez

Stay a second day and Saint-Tropez reveals its slower character. Climb to the Citadelle for the view back across the gulf, browse the Place des Lices market, then let the afternoon unfold at anchor. Evenings here run late and easy, moving from a quiet dinner to the buzz of the port without ever feeling forced. Two days is what the place asks for; one is rarely enough.

Day 4

Monaco

Cruise east to Monaco, where the coastline compresses into something singular. The principality packs harbour, casino, terraced gardens and grand hotels into a footprint you can cross on foot, and the view improves for arriving by sea. Berth in Port Hercule among the season’s largest yachts, take in Monte-Carlo after dark, and feel the particular energy of a place built entirely around the water’s edge.

Day 5

Monaco & the Corniche

A second day gives Monaco room to breathe. Trade the harbour for the coast road above it, Cap Ferrat, Beaulieu, Villefranche, where hidden bays and belle-époque villas line one of the Mediterranean’s most storied stretches of shore. Anchor off a quiet cove for the afternoon, then return to the principality for the evening. If your dates fall in late May, the Grand Prix turns the whole harbour into a grandstand.

Day 6

Girolata, Corsica

Now the itinerary changes register. An overnight crossing brings you to Girolata, a hamlet on the Corsican coast with no road in, reachable only by boat or on foot. It sits within the Scandola reserve, a UNESCO-listed stretch of red porphyry cliffs, sea caves and water so clear the anchor seems to float. This is the wild counterpoint to the Riviera: a day for swimming, snorkelling and doing very little, beautifully.

Day 7

Bonifacio, Corsica

The week ends at Bonifacio, and it ends well. The town stands on white limestone cliffs at Corsica’s southern tip, its old citadel carved into the rock above a narrow fjord-like harbour. Wind up through the medieval streets to the ramparts, then look back at your yacht far below in the marina. It is a dramatic, unhurried finish, and, for many, the moment the whole route makes sense.
