The Kimberley Coast Charter Itinerary

The Kimberley Coast Itinerary

The Kimberley Coast Yacht Charter
A week along the Kimberley, one of the last great wildernesses on earth, a remote north-west Australian coast of colossal tides, red-rock gorges and thundering waterfalls. This is raw expedition cruising, horizontal falls and cascading reefs, ancient rock art and crocodile-haunted rivers. Expect immense tidal drama and spectacular scenery, near-total isolation and a genuine sense of the frontier, an unforgettable voyage.

Every route we shape is a starting point, not a fixed schedule. Stay a second day where the light is right, move with the weather, or follow a captain to a quieter anchorage. What follows is one considered way to read it; the rest we tailor to you.
Day 1

Broome

Step aboard at Broome, the pearling town and gateway to the Kimberley, famous for the red sands of Cable Beach and its camel trains. Explore the town, then set sail north into the wilderness.
Day 2

Buccaneer Archipelago

Cruise into the labyrinthine Buccaneer Archipelago, a scatter of over 800 rugged islands set in fast-running tidal water. Weave among the red-rock isles, fish the channels, and anchor in a sheltered bay.
Day 3

Horizontal Falls

Sail to the extraordinary Horizontal Falls, where colossal tides force seawater through two narrow gorges to create a churning horizontal cascade. Ride the tender through the rapids, an exhilarating spectacle.
Day 4

Montgomery Reef

Cruise to Montgomery Reef, where the falling tide reveals a vast reef that seems to rise from the sea, water cascading off its edges. Watch the spectacle unfold, then explore the channels by tender.
Day 5

Prince Regent River

Sail into the Prince Regent River, a dead-straight river slicing through ancient sandstone to the beautiful King Cascade. Cruise upriver, watch for wildlife, and swim beneath the falls where safe.
Day 6

Mitchell Falls

Cruise to the Mitchell River and its magnificent four-tiered Mitchell Falls, one of the most spectacular sights in the Kimberley. Take a helicopter flight over the falls, then anchor in a quiet reach.
Day 7

King George Falls

The voyage ends at the twin King George Falls, the highest in the Kimberley, plunging 80 metres down sheer red cliffs. Nudge the tender to the base, feel the spray, and toast a wilderness expedition.
