Procida Superyacht Charter

Procida is the smallest and most authentic of the islands in the Bay of Naples, a jewel of pastel-coloured houses, working fishing harbours and quiet, timeless charm. Unspoilt and refreshingly genuine, it offers a glimpse of traditional island life that has all but vanished elsewhere on this glamorous coast.

The island’s beauty lies in its colour and character, from the iconic harbour of Marina Corricella, with its jumble of ochre, pink and yellow houses rising above the fishing boats, to the ancient hilltop village of Terra Murata. Named an Italian Capital of Culture, Procida rewards those seeking authenticity over glamour.

From the water, the island offers a coastline of small beaches, clear coves and colourful harbours ideal for swimming and anchoring. The larger island of Ischia lies alongside, while Capri and the Amalfi Coast are within easy reach across the bay.

With its vivid colours, authentic atmosphere and gentle pace, Procida is a delightful and characterful destination. Guests can anchor beneath its pastel harbours, wander its quiet lanes and enjoy the genuine charm of the most unspoilt island in the Bay of Naples.

Procida Charter Guide

Everything you need to know before chartering a yacht in Procida, from the best time to visit to where to drop anchor.
What's the best time of year to charter to Procida?

May through September gives the warmest water and the most reliable weather for a stop that’s largely about beaches and colour rather than indoor sights. June and September are the calmest windows, with the island’s single main square and narrow lanes far less crowded than during the August peak, when day-trippers arrive in large numbers from Naples.

How do guests get to a yacht moored off Procida?

Procida has no airport, so guests fly into Naples Capodichino (NAP) and then either join a yacht already cruising the Bay of Naples or take a ferry or hydrofoil from Naples or Pozzuoli, a crossing of roughly 40 minutes to an hour depending on the departure point and vessel type. Pozzuoli is generally the fastest and most frequent crossing.

Which anchorages work best around Procida?

Marina Grande, the island’s main harbour, is the natural base for going ashore, while Chiaiolella, on the more sheltered southern side near Vivara, suits an overnight stop. The beaches at Chiaia and Ciraccio offer good swimming close to the town, and the narrow Vivara channel, though a nature reserve, is a scenic spot to pass by tender.

How long is worth spending at Procida?

A single day covers Marina Corricella, Terra Murata and a swim at Chiaiolella, but an overnight stop lets guests see the harbour lit up in the evening, when the pastel houses and moored fishing boats are at their most photogenic. Most charters treat it as a short, characterful call between Naples and Ischia rather than a multi-day base.

Was Il Postino really filmed on Procida?

Yes, most of the film’s exteriors were shot around Marina Corricella and the lanes of Terra Murata in 1994. It carries a poignant footnote: star Massimo Troisi, who had postponed heart surgery to finish the role, died of a heart attack just twelve hours after filming wrapped, at the age of 41, and never saw the film’s success or its Oscar nomination.
