About Enterprise

ENTERPRISE is a one-off. Baglietto has built a great many yachts in this size range, but only one 38M V-Line, and she is it. That matters more than the model name suggests, because a single hull means the layout was resolved for one owner rather than averaged across a series, and the compromises a production boat carries simply are not here.

Francesco Paszkowski drew the exterior and it is the sharpest thing about her. A silver-grey hull, a low and forward-leaning superstructure, and a profile that reads as taut rather than tall. Aluminium above and below the waterline, teak on deck. Baglietto handled the naval architecture in house and worked with WLW Designs on the interior, which runs pale and light-filled against the darker exterior, all bleached timber, marble and glass rather than the heavy joinery Italian yards of this size often default to.

She is genuinely bi-seasonal, and the specification supports it. Two Caterpillars give 18 knots flat out and 12 in normal running, with 3,000 nautical miles of range at cruise. That is enough to cross, and she does: Corsica, Sardinia and the French and Italian coasts through the European summer, then the Bahamas and the Caribbean once the season turns. Not every 38-metre on the charter market can honestly claim both halves of that calendar.

Five cabins take ten guests. The master sits on the main deck and is approached through its own foyer, a small piece of planning that makes the difference between a cabin and a suite. The VIP is close to full-beam, and one of the remaining cabins converts between double and twin. Seven crew run her, and at 447 gross tons she is a manageable, efficient boat rather than an over-scaled one.

The deck arrangement is where the one-off thinking shows. The sun deck carries a jacuzzi with sun pads around it and enough open teak to take the whole party at once. Below that, the bridge deck lounge gives the group a second interior room. The main deck saloon runs the width of the boat and opens aft through full-height glass onto a deck that sits close to the water. Forward, the fore deck has been given over to seating rather than left as working space, which is a choice a series builder rarely makes. A gym is fitted below, and the swim platform folds down into a proper staging area for the toys.

The case for her is precision. She is three years old, she has never been renamed or reconfigured, her exterior is by one of the better designers working today, and she was built once, to one brief, and finished properly. Add a cruising pattern that legitimately covers both the Mediterranean and the Caribbean and she becomes a straightforward answer for a group of ten who want a modern boat without the scale, crew count or price of something ten metres longer.

Guests who have chartered series boats of this length tend to notice the same thing aboard her: nothing feels like it was placed to satisfy a brochure. The circulation works, the deck spaces are sized for the number of people she actually carries, and the storage is where a crew of seven would want it. That is what a single commission buys, and it is not something a refit can add later. She charters from USD 179,000 per week, and is not available for charter to US residents while in US waters.
